The tragedy of the COVID-19 pandemic appears to be entering the containment phase. Tens of thousands of Americans have died, and Americans are now desperate for sensible policymakers who have the courage to ignore the panic and rely on facts. Leaders must examine accumulated data to see what has actually happened, rather than keep emphasizing hypothetical projections; combine that empirical evidence with fundamental principles of biology established for decades; and then thoughtfully restore the country to function.
Five key facts are being ignored by those calling for continuing the near-total lockdown.
Fact 1: The overwhelming majority of people do not have any significant risk of dying from COVID-19.

He’s right. All we are doing is delaying an inevitable outcome while destroying our country.
In some locales, drug overdose deaths and suicides exceed COVID-19 deaths!
The absolute worst outcome of this plague would be the defeat of Trump in November. That would mean a democrat senate as well. Complete democrat control in the time of a national emergency means the end of the US as we know it or a very hot civil war. I give Trump a pass on things like talking down Kemp in Georgia. The medical emergency is over. The more desperate emergency is politically navigating the Wuhan mine field the left has built and winning the election. Trump playing politics with this is horrible necessity.
A very well written and well reasoned article. Let’s see how long before some on FR come on to tell us,’but people will die if we don’t stay locked away’
Cucks be cucks.
Tuning out every single so called expert, that for the most part...WERE WRONG!
It’s all agenda driven, all of it.
Fact 1: The overwhelming majority of people do not have any significant risk of dying from COVID-19.
The recent Stanford University antibody study now estimates that the fatality rate if infected is likely 0.1 to 0.2 percent...In New York City, an epicenter of the pandemic with more than one-third of all U.S. deaths, the rate of death for people 18 to 45 years old is 0.01 percent, or 11 per 100,000 in the population. On the other hand, people aged 75 and over have a death rate 80 times that. For people under 18 years old, the rate of death is zero per 100,000..
Fact 2: Protecting older, at-risk people eliminates hospital overcrowding...
Fact 3: Vital population immunity is prevented by total isolation policies, prolonging the problem...
Fact 4: People are dying because other medical care is not getting done due to hypothetical projections...
Fact 5: We have a clearly defined population at risk who can be protected with targeted measures... - https://thehill.com/opinion/healthcare/494034-the-data-are-in-stop-the-panic-and-end-the-total-isolation
I find that hard to believe. That is absolutely not the case around here.
I think this lockdown business needs to end very soon.
The data ARE in
/pedantic
:)
The sad fact of the matter is that we can not stop the spread of the disease. Best we can do is protect vulnerable populations such as in nursing homes.
Keeping the curve below the point where the health care system would crash is and has always been the only realistic, achievable goal.
We’ve done that. Time to move on.
None of these “facts” were in evidence when the crisis started.
Clue 1)...you start your “war” with the intel you have.
Clue 2)...you WIN your “war” by getting NEW intel and implementing/changing strategies as new facts become available.
Trump has done both, IMO, exactly as needed, and we are damned lucky to have had he and Pence in charge when this went down.
Clue 3)...the DAMNED FOOLS on THIS FORUM indulging in all the second-guessing are playing the Democrat/ChiCom’s game.
The BEST way to punish the Chinese is to be damned sure that Trump wins re-election.
