Political pressure is increasing on Gov. Kate Brown to ease the stay-home order that has kept most Oregonians homebound and averted the worst outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A new projection issued today by a widely followed model says Oregon could be ready to reopen by the end of May.
"After May 25, 2020, relaxing social distancing may be possible with containment strategies that include testing, contact tracing, isolation, and limiting gathering size," says an April 17 model by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

My little coastal town will notice bigtime. Our economy is dependent on tourism. Many small businesses have already been closed for six weeks. This will be a death knell for most of them.
we’ve rented some nice homes on the Oregon coast.....but I Can’t say I like supporting Oregon businesses, because basically look who they elect....

Same study is being applied to Washington state. Inslee hasn’t come out yet on May 5th lifting of restrictions but I expect he will extend to May 25 too.
Our ding bat governor does not realize the will be little left to open if we remained closed for another month.
There is a referendum circulating to carve out several counties from Oregon and California and attach them to Idaho.
