CCP Virus Threatens to Destroy China’s $3.8 Trillion Belt and Road Initiative......

The ‘Silk Road Economic Belt’ links China by land to Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Russia. But its ‘21st Century Maritime Silk Road’ overlays the British Empire’s 19th century trade routes by connecting to 138 countries, including 38 in sub-Saharan Africa, and 18 Caribbean and Latin America nations.

Despite being fully aware in mid-January that the novel coronavirus had become an epidemic across its nation, China signed 33 bilateral BRI agreements to accelerate the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

As the CCP virus became a global pandemic Restrictions on the flow of Chinese workers and construction supplies have been cited as factors for project suspensions or slowdowns in Pakistan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Malaysia,” the report said.

Some poorer nations are suspending BRI project spending to prioritize medical and health care assistance needs,.... With the CCP virus causing a global economic depression, BRI projects using large numbers of Chinese construction workers is now a very contentious issue for host nations.

Many BRI ventures were financially distressed prior to the CCP virus pandemic. When Sri Lanka defaulted on $1.3 billion in BRI debt in December 2017, it ceded over 70 percent of its strategic Hambantota Port on the Indian Ocean to a Chinese state-owned firm for a 99-year lease. But when Burma was unable to service $7.3 billion in BRI debt in 2018 for its Kyaukpyu, China was forced to renegotiate the loan down to $1.3 billion.

OBG argues that the CCP-induced economic slowdown threatens to increase the debt burdens on developing economies, and places China itself under added fiscal pressure.

This was a cover up and extreme negligence by China but I see no way in which deliberately doing this pays off, even in the long, long run.

I be their labs are sloppy (we finally got to see how things looked like in Russia after they fell) and it escaped or left with one of thew workers, the virus that is :)

the chinee covered-up.    that's a known quantity.       not negligence

in my book, given the consequences, they should be hung out to dry.

Good. I wish all manner of death and destruction on China and it’s people. It’s God’s judgment on them. A brutal, power mad, atheistic totalitarian regime that has sought domination of the worlds markets and has stolen so much of our resources and technology and unleashed a hellish pandemic on humanity.

I hope the hell they’ve created for the rest of us destroys these people utterly.

If China had been transparent, if they had asked for help we could have given it. The whole world would have given them help. The whole thing might have been stopped in Wuhan saving China much loss of life and economy.

Instead they decided to go the scumbag route. Boo hoo for China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Buy some burros!

Stupid wishful thinking.
China is facing more opportunities than challenges to push forward its agenda.
PRC Chinese companies are planning to take over more tech firms, assets in Europe and America.
