McConnell Says No ‘Blue State’ Coronavirus Bailouts

Mitch McConnell is effectively telling New York and other coronavirus-stricken states to drop dead.

The iron-fisted Senate majority leader announced Wednesday that his Republican caucus won’t support federal bailouts for New York and other states under enormous economic pressure because of the coronavirus pandemic, drawing harsh backlash from Democrats.

“My guess is their first choice would be for the federal government to borrow money from future generations to send it down to them now so they don’t have to do that. That’s not something I’m going to be in favor of," McConnell (R-Ky.) said of hard-hit states like New York during an interview on Hugh Hewitt’s right-wing radio show.

Instead, McConnell suggested Congress could tinker with Chapter 9 laws so states can restructure their mounting debts by declaring bankruptcy — an option that’s currently only available to cities and local governments.

“I would certainly be in favor of allowing states to use the bankruptcy route,” he said.

The Kentucky senator added later on in the interview, "There’s not going to be any desire on the Republican side to bail out state pensions by borrowing money from future generations.”

Typical liberal BS. What McConnell said was that the rest of America will not be required to bail out Democrat state mismanagement of their states. Example, Ill wanted $40 billion, of which $10 was to bail out their pension funds. BS, the rest of America should not be required to bail out these liberal states for their mismanagement.

Mitch McConnell could turn on the deep state if it gives him enough power.

Constitutionally, if a state cannot pay its obligations it is dissolved and reverts to territorial status.

California and New York are both high tax states.

Let them bail out each other.

A lot of Mitch haters here but he is the reason why he is able to convince the RINOS in the Senate to confirm 200 Trump judges to the federal courts, flipping even the 9th Circus.

Let CA, NY and NJ raise the money needed thru taxing their State Citizens.
And we will see how that turns out.

Wow, this post has been up just a few minutes and no Yertle haters have checked in yet.

I’m neutral-to-positive on McConnell. He may not be everything we might desire in an aggressive majority leader but he’s the majority leader we’ve got. Keeping Garland off the Supreme Court was a fine bit of work, as was his handling of the Kavanaugh nomination.

Still, this Wu Flu debacle has really exposed the evil nature of the American left. I’m afraid it’s going to take a lot more than a big win in November to stop them.

Trump is the best president of my lifetime. But we really need a Franco or a Pinochet.

It should never have come to this, but our blessed Founders could never have foreseen that malignant narcissism would become the plague of our time — much more dangerous and persistent than any Chinese virus.

Respectfully disagree.

It is the fear and Falci-hood that is more dangerous.

It is the dictatorial orders of Governors that will be more persistent.

Do you have a citation for that?

Actually, we have nothing to disagree about.

You’re missing the big picture here, FRiend lightman.

The dictatorial orders of these governors is but one manifestation of the malignant narcissism that is the salient characteristic of the left.
