(CNN)Two cats in New York have been infected with the novel coronavirus, federal officials announced Wednesday. Both had mild respiratory symptoms and are expected to make a full recovery. "These are the first pets in the United States to test positive," the US Department of Agriculture said Wednesday in a joint statement with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The agencies emphasized that there is no evidence pets play a role in spreading coronavirus in the United States. "There is no justification in taking measures against companion animals that may compromise their welfare," they said.

Supposedly in China, they were throwing animals out of buildings to kill them as they thought they were carriers. I guess it is better than how they usually kill pets there.
Cats can contract coronaviruses. One of my oldest son’s cat contracted a coronavirus many years ago. The vet thought he’d gotten it during an office visit since the cat wasn’t an outdoor cat, and there were three other cats in the same household who didn’t have it. The virus effected the cat’s heart, and he had to be put on specific medication to control the blood flow to the heart...basically a cardiac medication.

What a moronic statement. Cats breathe, cats sneeze, cats cough, cats drool just the same as humans. Common sense dictates they spread it the same. How in the world would they not? If someone can figure out how cats don’t spread it, the would have found The Cure for humans.
