They also make them in the Philippines and Japan, but the one I just looked through (Crossfire) was made in China.
What does Chelsea Clinton got to do with this? =)
Maybe the price of Acog will drop where I can afford another one
Dude, wear a mask....... full time!
How much each?
How long is the battery life?
How sensitive is it to shock, heat/cold?
What type of batteries does it uses?
Are they COTS batteries (Commercial Off The Shelf) or Proprietary batteries?
How difficult is it to change the batteries?
How difficult is it to learn and calibrate?
How much does it weigh?
How tough are they during shocks & drops?
We dont want to buy stuff that breaks like fragile chinaware.
Vortexs 1-8×30 Active Reticle Fire Control shown on an FN SCAR
Fundamentally, explained Hamilton, End-users will no longer need to leave their field of view to consult separate rangefinders or ballistic calculators, slowing them down and compromising their situational awareness.
I own three Vortex Scopes and one range finder. They are as good as any, and I do own several other brands. Leupold and Red Field, Burris, etc. I wish I could afford Nightforce, but then I would have to give up my first born for the down payment.
Vortex has a program for military, police, FF, and professional guides that allows for a 40% discount. That includes Vets and retirees from the military.
Gunner
That said I have had 2 Vortexs.
Good scopes for the money and lifetime guarantee.
Hopefully this one will be made here.
Should be required.
I have a Vortex reflex on my KSG. Pretty good for the money, but not my favorite red-dot by any means.
I think so, too.
Vortex is China made garage.
But not nearly as good as similar products like Aimpoint, Trijicon, Eotech etc.
I'm wondering how a "b" suddenly is making superior product - or if this contract was a "who you know" thing.
Aimpoint is made in Sweden.
Eotech had a significant issue with wandering zeros they covered up.
Trijicons are great.
Having a first focal plane with etched reticle, like Vortex, is a plus.
Other than that, who knows?
Well, the 7.62 SCAR is definitely a good torture test platform for new optics designs.
I do know, because I have Aimpoints on 2 of my weapons, and a Vortex on another. I've used Aimpoint, Trijicon (ACOG) and EOTech extensively in a professional environment.
Other than that, who knows?
People who've used them professionally.
I take it that is a bad thing. Not really knowledgeable about weapons. 8>)
