Cuomo says New York regions will reopen businesses separately
The Hill ^ | 04 22 2020 | J. Edward Moreno

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said Tuesday that some parts of his state will reopen faster than others as officials in areas less-impacted by the coronavirus pandemic make the case for a regional approach.

At a daily press conference in Buffalo, Cuomo noted that although New York City is densely populated and accounts for most of the cases in the state, there are “more cows than people” in some parts of upstate New York.

“We operate as one state, but we also have to understand variations,” Cuomo said. “And you do want to get this economy open as soon as possible, and if a situation is radically different in one part of the state than another, take that into consideration.”

Cuomo also noted that every county in his state has reported at least one case of the coronavirus and that living in a rural area should not produce “false comfort.”

“In many ways, New York is a microcosm of the United States,” Cuomo said.

State Sen. George Borrello, a Republican who represents an upstate New York district, told The Wall Street Journal Monday that he feels Cuomo’s approach had been “very New York City-centric.”

“He’s left the rest of the state vulnerable, economically,” Borrello said.

Wow! This guy is a real genius. He figured out that there is a difference between a urban and rural areas of his state. I swear, politicians take a Dumb Pill three times a day. (Biden overdosed)

He went to the Godfather yesterday and received an offer he couldn’t refuse.

“In many ways, New York is a microcosm of the United States,” Cuomo said.

Right. Ever been to Texas, cowboy?

What a dipshit.

Cuomo was never that great.

He just realized that he has an Upstate part of his city-state?

Most folks and businesses have left due to your insane taxes and regulations.

Many young people fled when the lockdown was first announced and they won’t be coming back.

BS....He went to apologize.

I'm sure President Trump had many dealings with Mario.

Cuomo finally realizes how dumb he is in getting things done. All he knows is tax, tax, tax...and feed certain hands.

And if it wasn't for Mario, we'd all be going Andy who?

And he put political hack and arse kisser Bob Duffy from the Rochester NY Chamber Of Non-Commerce “in charge” of reopening nonwestern upstate.
First thing out of Duffy’s mouth:
“No timeline” and “The Gov is ultimately in charge.”
Don’t hold your breath.

Cuomo also said...

He was open to fracking and would have a “study” which after a year of a sham he said he couldn’t allow it, which everyone knew would happen. He made this evening statement, oddly as he has a noon conference daily, because there is a scheduled protest in the capital, Albany NY for today and he was hoping to quell the enthusiasm.

I don’t believe any Cuomo has it within themselves to apologize.

Mario the Pious was one of the most incredibly arrogant men to ever walk the planet.

Of COURSE he’s open to fracking once market conditions have seen to it that no fracking is taking place.

I was stationed in NY for almost 7 years total. I had NEVER operated as one state. There is NYC and everyone who pays for the privilege of living elsewhere. It is not a microcosm of anything. It’s a unicorn.

Cuomo likes saying that “some areas have more cows than people” yet he’s had these rural villages locked down like Manhattan. Small towns don’t have big box stores & multiple grocery chains like nyc . I can walk 5 minutes in any direction to find a store in the city, Upstate you have to drive quite a distance to find a Walmart etc...Very unfair tone deaf manager Cuomo is not popular upstate due to his gun & fracking laws. Everyday he delays opening rural counties is an outrage..

I'm sure if they could talk cows into paying income taxes, it would have already happened.

The revenues generated by profitable small businesses mean nothing to these morons, who continue to see them as background noise. So much easier just to invite the Goldman boys in every few months for a discussion on issues of mutual concern.
