How do you know that Zelenko is telling the truth and the Veteran's Administration is lying?
More from the actual study:
“Compared to the no HC group, there was a higher risk of death from any cause in the HC group (adjusted HR, 2.61; 95% CI, 1.10 to 6.17; P=0.03) but not in the HC+AZ group”
So again, HC_+AZ = less death. The authors are deliberately disingenuous with their findings versus the actual data.
Yak... yak... yak... if someone does not want to take the drug, and die... who cares? If others want to discuss the matter with their doctors, that’s fine too. I’d prefer a pill over a plastic tube shoved down into my lungs.
Some additional things that need to be understood about this non-peer reviewed study:
The study does not query or document why the VA doctors chose the regimen of care for their COVID positive patients. So for example, if doctors felt a patient was in a desperate condition and they therefore initiated HCQ as opposed to a non-severe case where the doctor chose no drug therapy those are treated as equally at risk cases.
That is plainly a flaw in the study and ought to be acknowledged.

Patients not given hydroxycloroquine WITH zinc should organize a class-action malpractice suit asap.
Here is the conclusion of the study:

Cut to the chase, Gilead sciences helped fund the study as did the University of Virginia that is also investing in COVID solutions. So, these interests would both profit mightily if an inexpensive therapy like HCQ+AZ+zinc were found to NOT be therapeutic. Authors conclude: “we have not competing interests.”
False.
By the way, I am fine with institutions seeking other solutions but we should not pretend this was a dispassionate or fair analysis.
Authors also concede this in the conclusion:
“Our study has certain limitations including those inherent to all retrospective analyses such as non-randomization of treatments. “
That is exactly what I said in an earlier post that we do not know the conditions under which these three different treatment options were pursued.
I would bet money that there exists within the database instances of using the full protocol of three recommended medicines and the authors chose not to include that data.

By the way, I am also glad that magnetron posted this because I agree we need to be ready for the enemy and posts like these help us deconstruct the problem.

Nothing like facing death and seeing that there may be a remedy knowing it may not be 100% (no drug is) but it out weighs the risk of certain death but it is denied for POLITICAL reasons.

This retroactive study means nothing as there is no control over random assignment of patients who were assigned to a treatment group or non treatment group.
So the patients who were not sick enough to receive treatment had lower mortality rate.
DUH!!!
It’s like saying that cancer patients who were at advanced stages and received chemo were more likely to die.

Without this then the study is simply reporting the results rather than efficacy.
These people are just sick. They are celebrating a possible cure for the disease doesn’t work. Let’s hope they are wrong but the idea that a cure does not work is good news because it means Trump does not get a win is just deranged.
It was not a study. They just took the statistics from VA. They have no idea why any of the people were put on drugs, or why they were not.
Most likely is, the sicker a person was, the more likely they ended up on HC or HC+AZ, subject to the laws of whatever state they were in, and whether one or both of the drugs were available.
My guess is the group that didn’t take the drugs were the least sick, why would you take an experimental drug if you feel fine anyway?
This is not a PR battle. Trump said this drug might be helpful, and if it is, that would be great.
In the next month or two, we will get the conclusions from some real studies.
If the drug doesn’t work, we want to know that.
If the drug does work, all the spin in the world won’t “trump” the actual test results.
