The U.S. government should stop the inflow of foreign visa-workers for the rest of 2020, says an April 17 petition on the White House’s website.
“50 Million Americans are unemployed, Please halt employment Visas for this year,” says the petition, which needs 100,000 signatures by May 17 to force a response from the White House.
The petition may prove popular, in part, because opinions polls have shown the public strongly objects to companies hiring foreign workers before American employees. An August 2017 poll reported 68 percent of Americans oppose companies’ use of H-1Bs to outsource U.S.-based jobs that could be held by Americans.
A growing number of advocates — perhaps with the tacit approval of the White House — are calling for a temporary halt in the visa programs. For example, Congress should only lend recovery funds to companies which employer Americans, said Gene Nelson, a technology professional who has been repeatedly displaced by H-1B visa workers. “Hire American citizens only,” he said.

I not only want new H1-Bs not allowed in but throw out the ones here. Give them 90 days and terminate their status. That would give 100000’s of good paying IT jobs BACK to US workers. From IT services management to programmers. Indian IT sucks anyways, no big loss. Kill places like Facebook and Google in the process..WIN and WIN. They rely on cheap Currys for their business.
Yes, and sadly, they’ve been given 240 days to find/return to work or leave, instead of the original 60 days. Doubt this was cleared with Trump. ALL WORK VISAS SHOULD BE RESCINDED IMMEDIATELY.
I would be curious to know how many visa workers are still employed, how many laid off, how many fired. And compared to US citizens. And compared at same employers. And lets see how the Americans get hired back and NOT the visa workers.
I have a dog in this fight I own an IT consulting business and I sub-out work and would gladly give work to US developers and architects, but all there seems to be is Indians. I scaled back and only take on projects myself and a few trusted guys who need side hustles can do. One is a brilliant Nigerian guy who is a Trump loving Republican and a fine Christian gal from Sudan who is the bomb. We call our motley gang "The United Nations". I want talent and Currys don't have it.
Companies that have laid off Americans and kept their visa workers need to be boycotted and pilloried by Trump.

Sad that the petition was not vetted, well-written, and comprehensive. I don’t expect these petitions, as I have written in the past, mean or accomplish anything, but I have signed this one anyway.
What? I can’t get past any initial screening or interview as 99% of all recruiters and hiring managers are racist trash Indians. I had an interview yesterday. Didn’t ask me anything about SDET. No test engineering questions. Nada. He was asking questions straight from an Indian tech cheat site in c++, where the job calls for Java/Kotlin? I ended the interview as it was a serious waste of my time.
The only reverting Americans do are in git repos. And what Is “ my good name”? Is that different from my bad name?
And my visa status? F them. I’m a g@d damned American citizen (that is illegal to ask in pre-employment phone screens.
And my resume? Why the F do they ask for a new doc copy of my resume? So they can steal it?

I have been looking for an IT job for 6 months now. I have 20+ years of experience. Every person who I have an interview with is from India. They have half the experience that I do. I can tell they are NOT interested in hiring me. They are only interested in hiring other Indians. What happens when nearly all the computer systems in America are run by non citizens from third world countries?
