LOS ANGELES - Researchers at the University of Southern California and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on Monday released their initial findings from an antibody study, which suggests that hundreds of thousands of L.A. County residents may have developed coronavirus antibodies.
...
Based on the results of the first round of testing, which was conducted on 863 adults in the county, the researchers estimate that 4.1% of the county's adult population has an antibody to the virus, meaning they have SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in their bloodstream.
"Adjusting this estimate for statistical margin of error implies about 2.8% to 5.6% of the county's adult population has antibody to the virus- which translates to approximately 221,000 to 442,000 adults in the county who have had the infection. That estimate is 28 to 55 times higher than the 7,994 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to the county by the time of the study in early April," USC said in a press release on the findings.

Of course, this also implies that the mortality rate of this ChiCom Bioweapon is an order of magnitude lower than the previous data have suggested. That's good news. The bad news is that this also is more evidence that the Red Flu is substantially more communicable than earlier data indicated.
So the FluBros and the FeaRpers were both right. Imagine that.
Or could it be that it's been here longer than we thought?
Well, that’s the other explanation. We’ll find out soon now.
And the murderous Reds can’t avoid the Reckoning.
> And the murderous Reds cant avoid the Reckoning. <
I hope youre right. This virus didnt come from some meteor. It came from Red China. Yet most news reports ignore that. The entire world should shun Red China. But will they? I doubt it.
Nuke ‘em from Orbit just to make sure.
Flubros positions has typically been that it is very communicable and not very lethal. How exactly are the Fearpers right?
Well, I’m not ready to stipulate that either camp has a coherent “position”.
Putting aside the worst of the dummies on either side, the way I read the Flubros is that they think we’re over-reacting. And the FeaRpers think this is serious enough to suffer some economic damage if we can save some lives by doing so.
To my way of thinking, the FeaRpers got this right: even if the Red bioweapon is only 3 or 4 times more deadly than the seasonal flu, it’s now clear that the ability of the CCP Lung AIDS to spread is sufficient to demand extraordinary measures.
My personal opinion is that Trump was right to try the “lockdown”, and he’s right now to press for a rapid reopening.
I think that is the correct take too.
The risks of continuing to stay closed seem far greater to me than the risks of opening too soon -- at least for the vast majority of the country.
Lend your voice. Make ‘em pay.
Mexican government concerned for their x-pat citizens?
Live late november maybe??
So many people must have gotten it in December and January and February..but I may be wrong because why no massive numbers in ER a few weeks after?
Time to incubate...maybe the stronger who are out and about got it first then gave it to the older or infirm?
I think answers will unfold as time goes by.
I know NO ONE in my HUGE Italian family and all of my friends who are sick or even know someone that is sick.
Over 1,000 people easy.
So some MUST have it and just didn’t get very sick.
It would make sense they passed it on to other family members and they didn’t get all that sick either.
Still, I’m at ground zero..Staten Island and don’t know anyone who’s been taken down by it.
Mexican government concerned for their x-pat citizens?
Lemme aks ya something, do you guys throw the F bomb around like they do on The Sopranos, or is that just a Jersey thing?
Still, Im at ground zero..Staten Island and dont know anyone whos been taken down by it.
At this point, how can we believe anything we hear about it?
my father never cursed once in front of me or my brothers and sisters or mother..or family.
My brother and I curse like it’s our second language...in two languages. Well he’s a lawyer and i’m in an office too so not there...actually yeah even there I do. My brother doesn’t.
My closest 3 first cousins, barely a curse a year among them.
My grandfather on my mom’s side was a sick animal. Mafioso but that’s not why he was sick. Most mafiosi treated wife and kids well.
he was a mentally sick ####
He beat the wife and kids like animals every day and night.
My uncle Joe was sick as a kid holding his gut in pain and my grandfather punched him in the gut...it was the appendix. Luckily he lived.
I think genes don’t count for everything but for something...me and my brother are good guys...with bad sides.
My other grandfather was gentle and a sweetheart.
I resemble physically the bad one.
I am truly sorry to hear that.
I’ve learned through life that the age and the physical condition of a person might prepare you a little more but it still hurts.
My condolences.
Just to clarify the antibody test means they have had ci is at some point not necessarily that they actively have it now. And yes I dont recall any of us saying that the virus was a hoax or not contagious. Just that the mortality rate is in the same range and influenza (which by the way killed 80k people
last year) and that we have never trashed our economy or civil liberties for the flu.
Our family growing up had very close Italian immigrant friends. Mom even traveled to Italy twice with her best friend. In between the first trip and the second she went to night school and learned to speak fluent Italian.
So I’ve been exposed to Italian culture — that warm, loving, LOUD culture. The large Italian wedding reception up in Calgary, Canada is still impressed upon my mind.
