KEY POINTS
The Korean won weakened sharply on Tuesday against the dollar on unconfirmed reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is seriously ill.
As of 0239 GMT Tuesday, the Korean won fell 1.54% to trade at 1,239.35 per dollar.
The moves came after CNN reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed U.S. official with direct knowledge, that Washington is monitoring intelligence that Kim is in grave danger after a surgery.

I’d guess the assumption is that China will increase it’s influence in NK, and be able to make it harder on our ally.
I think Kim’s nephew is still in hiding, being protected by the U.S., Israel and others after Lil Kim murdered his father. If I remember correctly, the nephew was educated in Switzerland and is considered to be pro-West. He would be one of the presumptive heirs if Lil Kim goes out Gangnam Style.

So that’s why one of the journos at today’s Task force briefing asked bout reductions in troops in South Korea.
Trump explained there was no plan to decrease, just discussions of South Korea paying for its own protection. Good opportunity for the USA if Little Rocket Man is out of the picture.
So was Lil Kim, look how he turned out.

China says he's OK!
Or the Norks givernment are about to open the borders and push all 8 million Norks south at once.
That’s the biggest fear of South Korea outside war.
Unless China is also collapsing.
What is the one thing that no market likes?

Uncertainty.
After all: Better the devil you know, than...
Regards,
Supposedly fatso Kim got the corona from a Chinese doc performing his recent heart valve surgery ... surreal
She’s just projecting, like all good leftists.
Drop dead scumbag ! Free the norks !
My 2c
Like any Communist country, it’s currency is worthless. During the days of The Soviet Union it’s currency, the ruble, was worthless. So what does South Korea’s currency have to do with North Korea’s?
Yeah, right? One Commie killing another. Boy. There’s irony for you.
“Bring out yer dead!’’ “I’m not dead’’.
Instability - flood of refugees, danger of power struggle there etc.
As mentioned, markets don’t like uncertainty.
People are surprised to find that Kim went to school in Switzerland. He was well liked by his classmates, who had no idea he was in line to run North Korea. He enjoyed theater, music and sports. It’s where he learned to love basketball.
The real powers behind the throne are thought to be the Nork generals who live like billionaire princes and who don’t want things to change. It’s hard to tell how much power or freedom of action Kim Jong Un actually has.
2 reasons I can think of. One is a seriously destabilized at least rudimentary nuclear power a few kilometers away from your largest city with an epic power struggle going on. The second is a likely flood of starving uneducated literally dirt poor refugees flooding across your border for you to try to feed, house, and assimilate into modern culture.
