...and there might not be a you or me.

Stalin sent Soviet pilots to fly the NorK MiGs against UN air forces. If MacArthur had gotten his way, atomic bombs would have been used against China. Do you think that Stalin would have stood idly by?

Of course not! There would have been general war and Europe would now be part of the Warsaw Pact, as NATO did not have enough resources to stop a Soviet attack through the Fulda Gap. Remember, the Soviets tested their first A-bomb in 1949 and if US A-bombs were used to stop the Red Army, Stalin would have replied in kind.

They didn't have sufficient production or delivery systems. You should read "Dark Sun. The making of the Hydrogen Bomb" by Richard Rhodes.

Curtis LeMay would have wiped out Russia, and quickly too. You will seriously, not believe what Curtis LeMay was doing as commander of SAC. It was d@mn near Mutinous, if not in fact over the line, but Russia would have gotten wiped out if they had tried to f*** with us.

Good points...
In 1950, American people supported the total war with China and USSR? Using nuclear weapons? Korean War happened 5 years after WW 2 ended...

I am skeptical that Americans would have tolerated a total war...

I am not angry that President Truman refused to engage in a total war...

I don’t know how much the Russians could have pushed unless it had gone nuclear. They had suffered horrendous losses in WW2.
