We need to re-open what we can where we can.”
That’ll be damn little until there is testing to assure employers that 1) they’re not hiring virus-carriers; and 2) that their customers are safe from other people who have the virus.
just as in Taiwan, testing will be the key to opening the economy. The governors could decree it’s open, but until employers and customers are confident they won’t get infected by virus-carriers, the economy will be mostly closed as a practical matter.
The governor of Michigan could become a libertarian tomorrow and tell you that you’re free to go on a Carnival Cruise. Would you do so even though you were “free” to? You wouldn’t, and most others wouldn’t either, me included.
However, if everyone had to take a 15 minute corona test before being allowed to board, I’d go that cruise!
Sure. because all tests are 100% particularly when administered by disinterested and bored employees. And please tell me how you are going to test 4000-6000 people in 1015 minutes? Unless you plan on thousands of employees all doing the test at once. Test them a week before the ship leaves? then they might be infected in the interval time. Testing is not the panacea you think it is
