Harvard University, which has a $40 billion private endowment, just received $9 million in Wuhan coronavirus "relief" funding. From the Harvard Crimson:
Harvard University will receive nearly $9 million in aid from the federal government through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, the Department of Education announced last week.
The CARES Act the largest economic stimulus package in American history was signed into law on March 27. It allocates nearly $14 billion to support higher education institutions during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Of the $8,655,748 Harvard is slated to receive, the government has mandated that at least half $4,327,874 be reserved for emergency financial aid grants to students.
The Department of Education will distribute the first $6.28 billion to colleges and universities to cover expenses such as course materials, technology, food, and housing students have incurred related to disruptions in their education due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a April 9 press release.
This comes just three months after the school's top chemist, Dr. Charles Lieber, was arrested for secretly working with China. Specifically, he worked with a university in Wuhan.
"Unbeknownst to Harvard University beginning in 2011, Lieber became a 'Strategic Scientist' at Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in China and was a contractual participant in Chinas Thousand Talents Plan from in or about 2012 to 2017. Chinas Thousand Talents Plan is one of the most prominent Chinese Talent recruit plans that are designed to attract, recruit, and cultivate high-level scientific talent in furtherance of Chinas scientific development, economic prosperity and national security," the Department of Justice released on January 28, 2020.
Meanwhile, U.S. intelligence agencies are working overtime to nail down the exact origin of the virus and believe Wuhan coronavirus originated in a lab.
Universities with large endowments should not be getting this aid.
Ridiculous. I saw the Mormon Church got $54 million too. They’re tax exempt, how do they justify taking tax money?
They should NOT be getting a damn dime of taxpayer funding...NONE! Let their rich alumni support em.
“...Ridiculous. I saw the Mormon Church got $54 million too. Theyre tax exempt, how do they justify taking tax money?...”
Good question for Mitt Romney. He’s probably behind it.
Bait to catch other traitors with!
Where’d you see That? Mormon church getting $$$
Been hanging out at DU have you? That's the only place I find it and it's bogus.
Are they hoping we all just shoot ourselves and solve all their problems? People are at the end of their rope right now. I woke up and got up this morning feeling really angry/depressed/despondent/sad...It’s hard to be encouraged when it’s all such baloney..
That really angers me. Harvard shouldn’t get a dime of taxpayer money while they’re sitting on their huge endowment.
