Facebook released its first county-by-county maps Monday showing the prevalence of self-reported COVID-19 symptoms based on data it has collected.
The maps, which will be updated daily, are meant to help health officials allocate resources and decide where parts of society can be reopened.
They use information from a voluntary survey Facebook has been prompting users to take. The survey, operated by the Carnegie Mellon University Delphi Research Center, is designed to help health researchers identify COVID-19 hot spots earlier.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the goal is to give state officials a sense of where they may need to direct resources, such as personal protective equipment, or PPE.
"Overall, since experiencing symptoms is a precursor to going to the hospital or becoming more seriously ill, these maps could be an important tool for governments and public health officials to make decisions on how to allocate scarce resources like ventilators and PPE, and eventually when it's safe to start re-opening society," Zuckerberg said.
The data doesn't include individual people's specific movements, and the survey, which is used to generate the maps, is something people must opt in to. Facebook plans to start offering the surveys internationally and will be releasing reports on the global prevalence of the disease.
"I think providing aggregate data to governments and health officials is one of the most important tools tech companies can provide," Zuckerberg said.

The same Leftists who stuff ballot boxes and who protested against the protesters demanding an end to restrictions aren’t going to make false claims of continued covid circulation in communities?
He’s an odd duck alright.
Is there a direct link to the facebook map?
The NBC site idiotically blocks me for having an ad blocker, which I don’t. I just set my browner not to accept cookies from assh013 sites line NBC
Hamilton County, Ohio has 764 cases, (accumulated since the beginning) according to state Board of Health, out of a population of 813,936.
The Facebook map shows .86% for Hamilton County.
The Facebook map is full of crap.
I can’t hear the guy without thinking Kermit the Frog
He tried to go on a “listening” tour of America (for presidential aspirations), and he sucked at it. If anyone ever read the book Accidental Billionaires (adapted for the movie Social Network), he was and still is a narcissistic, sniveling coward but he is very damn committed that’s why he’s in that position in life.
A rich odd duck

Facebook ‘Fact Checker’ Worked At Wuhan Biolab; Ruled Out Virus-Leak While ‘Debunking’ Articles
04/17/2020
A Facebook fact checker who has ‘debunked’ articles suggesting that COVID-19 may have leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) has a giant conflict of interest; she worked at the institute - which is now suspected of accidentally leaking the hyper-virulent virus which has killed over 130,000 people and cast the global economy into chaos.
Danielle Anderson, who works at Duke University’s NUS Medical School lab in Singapore, also contributes to Science Feedback - which Facebook has been using to slap “False Information” labels on articles claiming that COVID-19 may have originated at the Wuhan institute - where Anderson worked with bat coronavirus.
A quick search of Anderson’s publications reveals no fewer than nine collaborations with Dr. Peng Zhou - a Wuhan scientist experimenting on bat coronavirus (the mention of whom may result in a Twitter ban).

Those are sparsely populated counties, consisting mostly of American Indian reservations.
Gotta keep the panicdemic alive, y’know?
Heard an interesting news story here in W. Pennsylvania this morning. Some guy’s 103 year-old grandmother died a couple of weeks ago. He got the death certificate and the cause of death is listed as “Coronavirus.” The only problem is, she was never tested for the coronavirus.
Hazleton PA has one of the highest concentrations of the COV19 virus. The city also happens to have one of the highest percentage of illegals in Pennsylvania. The previous mayor, Lou Barletta tried to do something about it by preventing landlords from renting to illegals. A rat judge overruled it and now the city is getting punished for it. The whole place should be burned to the ground.
If I had his money and he had feathers in his @$$, we would both be tickled.
