Gov. Phil Murphy painted a dire outlook for New Jersey public-worker jobs on Saturday afternoon, pleading for more financial aid to lift a state economy that has been cratered by the coronavirus.
“We will have layoffs that will be historic,” Murphy warned, as he called for Congress to send more direct aid to states, and as he urged state lawmakers to help him borrow billions of dollars.
He added that the layoffs would be felt through New Jersey, at the state, county and local levels.
“That’s what’s at stake. I don’t know how many, but it is big, big numbers,” Murphy said during his daily coronavirus press briefing in Trenton.

When government employees feel the pain, the governors will quickly move to restore state tax revenues.

My brother wrote to his Democrat State Senator to ask him to support the Legislature’s attempt to roll back the lockdown.
He wrote back saying he could not do that because “it would cost us Federal funding”(???).
I directed my brother to this story and told him that the tune would soon be changing.
Occasionally he would run into this Senator in bars and have pleasant apolitical exchanges. No longer I reckon.
He thinks he is the people, well they are responsible for what they elect.
My little berg has no industry to speak of 50 have it 0 dead. Grocery biggest business. I learned early in life to save and have food on hand. To old, sick to work now. Everything hubby 80 college educated is obsolete. Mine was 2 yrs after HS.
NJ has 475,000 illegal aliens according to Pew, which is over 5% of their population. +70% are on social welfare.
Cut every penny paid to illegals, turn them all in to ICE, end sanctuary policies, cut 80% of university administrators and end tenure for “educators” at all levels, eliminate environmental nazis, end abortion funding, disband public employee unions, terminate all union “leaders”, end all “climate” programs/subsidies, then reassess other unnecessary State expenses.
