Yes it was an intentional mistake.
It was a natural novel deliberate evolutionary accidental plan ultimately abandoned in favor of random determinism.
The bats carrying the naturally mutated double strong coronavirus each with 4 deadly payloads of HIV inserts flew 600 miles to Wuhan because the air is so fresh and the people are so friendly. It had nothing to do with an upcoming US Presidential election year.
Put a tarif on everything, and then turn most of it around back into bigger stimulus checks.

China locked Wuhan down, but still allowed international flights to leave.

Not quite. Sentence one and three are highly likely. Sentence two was a partial result of sentence three.
The Chinese have very little respect for quality control. They are culturally far more interested in rapid results. It doesn’t matter to them at all the danger or the failure.

Then, there is a very very important concept of Losing Face. In Western Culture this is explained by, a very high aversion to Public Embarrassment and Humiliation.
This is a very real and ingrained cultural thing in Oriental Culture. The higher up in the food chain you go, the aversion to Losing Face becomes EXPONENTIALLY GREATER.
And, in China Xi is at the top of the food chain.
Thus, the frantic need to shift blame from themselves. No matter the cost. At all costs.

We don't know all that Trump knows. But we can be sure that if China did release COVID-19 as a bioweapon--and it sure looks like they did--Trump knows all about it.

[I]t does look like this virus was reverse engineered by the Chinese from something in a lab (like SARS). It has been alleged by Western scientists in China that this virus could not have made the jump from animals to humans with its genome intact (i.e., the genome in the human virus identical to that in the animal from which it is said to have come). The very fact that the virus has a 100% identical genome to the one in the animal from which was supposed to have come means that it was reverse engineered in that Wuhan lab for the very purpose of infecting humans.Here's the link to an excellent video that discusses this virus comparison study (link starts at the 9:28 minute mark).

The rest of the developed world has been in economic lockdown, but China (outside Wuhan) has not. What does that tell us?
Art of the Deal. Trump has Xi by the shorthairs and he’s going to see if he can leverage this without having to result to actual hostilities.
