He acknowledged that was a mistake. For that, I forgive him. Newt was a terrific Speaker. His contract with America was a brilliant strategy and it worked.

He acknowledged that was a mistake.

No, the problem is that he fell into the same-old trap that Republicans always make when they're accused of being evil right-wing KKK extremists by the Left: Try to soften their image and "reach out" to the very Left that wants to see them destroyed.

Newt got completely owned by Clinton and the media. Policy-wise, he is a master, but he was horrible at optics and pushing the narrative. Trump would NEVER sit next to Pelosi on a couch.

He never believed it was “a mistake.” He didn’t do it for sh!ts and giggles. That stupid ad was part of a paid gig for Gingrich when he was working as a lobbyist for the “green energy” industry.

Newt Gingrich is the Republican poster boy for everything that is wrong with American government.

2008-2009 was not a great time for Gingrich.

In late 2009, he endorsed RINO Dede Scozzafava for the NY-23 special election without knowing who she was. When her true liberal leanings began to emerge, she dropped in the polls, eventually dropped out of the race, and endorsed her Democrat opponent instead of the leading Republican in the race.

Gingrich later apologized for that endorsement, too.

Unfortunately it worked too well and got Clinton reelected.
