Illinois spent $17 million on masks from China that are now being recalled in other states

Millions of masks purchased by the State of Illinois from China may not be useable by those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic, after multiple states recalled similar equipment Thursday.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has been scouring the world for gowns, gloves and masks to protect medical workers and first responders across the state from COVID-19.

That includes many KN95 masks bought from China, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said earlier this month was an acceptable alternative to the United States approved N95 masks. State spending records reveal Illinois has already spent nearly $17 million buying the KN95 masks.

But now, officials in Missouri are recalling thousands of KN95 masks after testing by the state’s Department of Health and Senior Services over the weekend found some did not meet their standards, according to director Sandy Kartsen.

China has been selling millions of faulty masks all over the world. Total shameless psychopaths.

The best laugh is on Pritzker who said he was buying these mask in some secret arrangement so Trump wouldn’t commandeer them. Nice work A-hole.

Not much of a surprise to me.

Who holds a commie responsible for anything? China is the world's #1 criminal for theft & robbery on every level: personal, company and state level.

Just saw a report that said Newsome (CA) purchased hundreds of masks, from ChiComs.

These states should be fined, for aiding the enemy.

“CRAP manufactured in China. Good luck getting your money back!”

I once got my money back from a Chinese restaurant. It was $18 in 1994. Family and friends were amazed. 99.999% of the time you are SOL with them.

I buy a laptop USB dongle direct on from China via Ebay. I always order 2x as many because some are duds

Didn’t Gov. Putzker brag about spending 1.2 million dollars on two flights to China to pick up these faulty masks?

Ten years after China’s infant milk tragedy, parents still won’t trust their babies to local formula

It was maybe three months ago that I helped a Chinese lady reach the last containers of baby formula from the top back shelf at Wal-Mart. I asked her if she was shipping it to China, she said yes.

“Illinois has already spent nearly $17 million buying the KN95 masks.”

Being Illinois, some connected puke probably became a corporation over night, and operating out of his kitchen set up a medical supply brokerage. Then through an unscrupulous Chinese associate obtained the goods for $100,000. Pocketed the rest.

Every day it is something else. China sold many test kits that turned out be completely useless. They did not work.

China should not be allowed to get away with this. The world must unite against them.

agreed.

there will be no “official” punishment...maybe DJT tells them we aint gonna pay them the 1.3 trillion in our debt they are holding...but that is chicken feed compared to what this kung flu will cost the USA alone.

the entire world needs to crash the chinese economy. quit buying their crap. whenever possible, find an alternative.

that is how they get punished.

I can't believe that nobody in the US can produce N95 masks.

Wasn't 3M doing it but selling them overseas until PDJT dropped the hammer?

I know about My Pillow.

Remington offered to make PPE for NY but Dandy Andy turned them down

The biggest seller of infant formula is A2, a New Zealand company. I knew very little about the history of melamine in China, yours was a really good article, thanks. We have had all of our IRAs invested in that company, shares sold in the US under ACOPF. In almost 3 years we are up over 300%.

The infant formula situation got desperate for a while as the Chinese struggled to feed their infants.

Baby Milk Rationed In UK Over China Export Fear

"Retailers in the UK are rationing sales of powdered baby milk because of a surge in demand in China. "

The Chinese manufacturers were adding melamine to increase the protein 'reading' to pass government requirements...killing Chinese babies.

Arrests In China Over Milk Tainted With Melamine

"Prosecutors said the general manager at the Shanxi province firm was among those accused of adding melamine to milk powder that was out of date."
