A team of researchers in California found that the number of coronaviruses cases in one county may actually be up to 85 times higher than the what health officials have tallied, and say their data may help better estimate the virus’ true fatality rate.
Earlier this month, Stanford University-led researchers tested 3,330 adults and children in Santa Clara County, who were recruited using Facebook ads, for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and found that the population prevalence of COVID-19 in Santa Clara ranged from 2.49 percent to 4.16 percent.

“This probably aligns with what overall national exposure may be, on order of about 5 percent once we do wide serology,” he tweeted on Friday. “Santa Clara was a hot spot and I would have expected exposure to be higher. Overall we’re probably diagnosing 1 in 10 to 1 in 20 infections.”

Herd immunity does not nececcarily mean we dont get it, but instead that it doesnt kill us all.

I think this thing can be beaten. There are forces that will do anything to prolong it. Nevertheless,destroying the country is not the answer. I have lost some already who think I am insane and inhumane. We are at war civilly and worldly. It is Conservatism vs Globalism. Globalism nuked the world. That was their last ditch effort because President Trump is their Kryptonite.

When this all started in the news back in February there was some scientist who predicted that anywhere between 40 and 70% of the WORLD would get this infection in the next year.
There was a lot of mockery here on FR over that prediction.
I would like it while it is sunny and warm.
I wonder how much of our genetics makes a difference in infection rate.
Live in the DC burbs, run into people who work at the National Cancer Institute and they tell me developing cancer is genetic. Basically if you don’t have the mesothelioma gene, you can eat asbestos for breakfast every morning and you won’t get mesothelioma.
We are seeing a high rate of asymptomatic cases. Is it genetic or virus load?
I think the bigger issue is reaction after it escaped.
I was reading a piece that has the Chinese leaders being very superstituous about pandemic. They do not act as western civ would, faced with pandemic. They conncern themselves with palace intrigue, their mortal enemies are close at hand.

I have a Fake News viewer in my extended family. They had no idea that CA and NY got rid of thousands of ventilators because Fake News (TM) never reports that.
They sure are investing a LOT of $$ in trying to cover this up.

LOL! Facebook is called the “OK, Boomer app” among marketers; it’s somewhat underserved reputation is that it’s ALL 70-year-olds.
It’s really hard to listen to loved one who listen to CNN and MSNBC, etc. and have them tell you, you are the one who follows fake news.

Wonderful! The virus is 85 times less lethal than previously claimed. We were misled. It’s not much worse , if at all, than regular old fashioned seasonal flu. As I’ve been postulating all along but now we have the proof. And we have an effective and dirt cheap treatment with several more in rapid development. —— all this panic is destroying our country and millions of Americans’ jobs and businesses. Let’s advise frail elderly folks to be careful if both flu and this new similar virus. And let’s get back to work now!
