Government coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci says that heartsick isolationists can hook up with asymptomatic Tinder matches in real life — but, like love, it involves some risk.

The 79-year-old immunologist dropped the unorthodox dating tip in a Tuesday interview on Snapchat’s “Good Luck America.”

Toward the end of the taped segment, Fauci was asked: “If you’re swiping on a dating app like Tinder, or Bumble or Grindr, and you match with someone that you think is hot, and you’re just kind of like, ‘Maybe it’s fine if this one stranger comes over.’ What do you say to that person?”

“You know, that’s tough,” replied the befuddled National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director to the curveball. “Because that’s what’s called relative risk.”

He added, “If you want to go a little bit more intimate, well, then that’s your choice regarding a risk.”

Yeah I dont get how risky behavior, in this case promiscuous sex, can be compared “running ones life”. Promiscuity is risky anytime..pandemic or no pandemic. Normal social activities during a pandemic are NOT the same. Thats what Fauci was saying. If two strangers chose to screw each other thats their call...their risk...their consequences. You cant compare that to filling buildings (schools, factories, malls etc) with people while an aggressive contagion is spreading among everyone on the planet.

So if you enjoy socially talking with neighbors and take the relative risk of doing so, you can get reported to police and fined, or worse since it may pass on an infection in which at least 80% recover as with a cold or have no symptoms, and a very small % die. However, you want to engage in a practice that is what transmits HIV in over 80% of cases among men, you are sanctioned to take that relative risk.

In 2018, men who have sexual relations with other men (MSM) accounted for 69% of all new HIV diagnoses in the United States and 6 dependent areas. Young gay and bisexual men accounted for 83% of all new HIV diagnoses in people aged 13 to 24 in 2018. 

Also according to the CDC (chart), in 2017  male to male sexual contact was the mode of transmission in 93% of new HIV cases among male youth aged 13 to 24, and  MSM  accounted for 82% of diagnoses among males  and 70%  of all new HIV diagnoses, and 2 out of every 3 diagnoses in the United States. Which is despite only representing approximately 4% of the male population). 

And which practice (historically)  has resulted in a greatly increased incidence of other infectious diseases   and premature death.
