SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. - Skateboarders who couldn’t resist kickflipping during stay at home orders and calls for social distancing will be forced to carve elsewhere after city officials dumped 37 tons of sand on the San Clemente skatepark. Officials filled the bowls and covered the concrete at Ralph’s Skate Court with nearly four inches of sand after skaters ignored “no trespassing” signs, the Orange County Register reported.

The nanny state won't let you have fun. Lets hope the younger generation gets a clear look into the face of a totalitarian government.

With the reduced traffic, on ramps and off ramps could be used. Guess the city better tear those up.

“The nanny state won’t let you have fun.”

No, it was the nanny state that provided the skatepark.

Yep, that’s crazy and costly isn’t it?

Taxpayer money to dump sand into a skate park, which will make a mess of it???? Then a major clean up job after all this is behind us??? Who the heck decides that this is a good idea?

Communist California will never recover. Maybe the best thing to do is remove this sick state from America. New York is just as bad.

The ultimate make-work job. Pay for the sand, dump the sand, claim it will take overtime to remove the sand in a timely manner.
Unreal.

IIRC during one of the Obama government shutdowns, some national parks were closed because rangers were furloughed. In order to ensure that the parks were closed (due to lack of staff), the government had to bring in twice the normal workforce to make sure the public had no access to the park.

Nice of them to re-purpose this park!

Everybody should pack blankets, picnic baskets, frisbees and make good use of this new beach.

Use a golf sand-wedge to practice sand shots.

That was a lot of money spent on sand. Why would anyone be so cruel to children yet let grown up addicts poke needles in their arms and shit on the streets in front of those same children?
