U.S. stock futures surged on Thursday night after a report said a Gilead Sciences drug was showing effectiveness in treating the coronavirus. The move pointed to a jump for the stock market on Friday.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were up 700 points, or about 3%. S&P 500 futures gained 2.8% while Nasdaq 100 futures were up by 1.8%.

Gilead shares jumped by 14% in after-hours trading after STAT news reported that a Chicago hospital treating coronavirus patients with Remdesivir in a trial were recovering rapidly from severe symptoms. The publication cited a video it obtained where the trial results were discussed.

I really don't get this. When in history has the stock market ever been this volatile, over something that really isn't that big of a deal anyway? Even the Great Depression took three (THREE) YEARS to drop from 380 to 40, and much of that was the result of other factors - the big crash only dropped the DJIA to 230 or so. Significant, but the whole time was crash, recovery, slide. Not the crazy constant up and down the markets have been doing recently.

People taking care of each other is way more efficient than government trying to take care of us.. but we already knew that.

I have been saying since the beginning of this that we should all be armed with spray bottles of disinfectant and go after it, not hunker down at home like a bunch of cowards.

Maintaining LIBERTY is a constant battle, in this case it could be won with spray bottles of disinfectant. As Ben Franklin once said "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

This entire concept of a deep state Virus Industrial Complex needs to get eradicated before it has us under absolute socialist control, the ruling class will lock us down for any pet cause they can dream up. But not to worry, we can mail in ballots to change the government and win our freedom back as we flatten every curve that comes our way in this New Normal world.

There are also frequencies of light that work.

We should have armies attacking the virus, not hiding at home

"HealthDay Reporter MONDAY, Feb. 12, 2018 (HealthDay News) -- As a particularly nasty flu season rages across the United States, scientists have found a powerful new disinfectant that makes "light" work of the virus. Researchers say a certain spectrum of ultraviolet light -- called far-UVC -- easily kills airborne flu viruses while posing no risk to people. It could offer a new, inexpensive way to eliminate airborne flu viruses in indoor public spaces such as hospitals, doctors' offices, schools, airports and aircraft, said the team from Columbia University Medical Center in New York City."
