Phyllis Schlafly: Godmother of 'America First' (Hollywood Hate)

Michelle Malkin thumps producers of new film demonizing conservative icon

Anti-patriot hatred never rests. Hollywood has launched a new character assassination vehicle targeting the late great Phyllis Schlafly. "Mrs. America" debuts on FX on Hulu this week with liberal actress Cate Blanchett starring as the traditionalist Catholic conservative activist who defeated the so-called Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s and went on to helm the influential Eagle Forum until her death at 92 in 2016.

Blanchett, who also served as executive producer on the project, denies any bias against Schlafly and points to the entire movie staff's refusal to speak with any of her family members as proof of its neutrality. But blocking input from those who knew the phenomenal matriarch, lawyer and author of more than 20 books conveniently allowed the Tinseltown fable-tellers to fabricate calumnious scenes out of thin air – including a fantastical depiction of Schlafly's devoted husband, Fred, forcing the female conservative icon to have sex against her will.

With the couple both deceased and family members unable to defend their marriage of 44 years, nobody and nothing stood in the way of Blanchett and Co. disseminating a cunning lie crafted to cast conservative women as abused captives with no independent agency behind closed doors.

Anne Schlafly Cori, one of Schlafly's six children and chair of the Eagle Forum, vigorously refuted Blanchett's depiction of her mother in trailers released ahead of Wednesday's premiere. "Her acting is cold, cruel and calculating," she told Vanity Fair. "Phyllis Schlafly was warm and gracious, and her beliefs were sincere. Women idolized Phyllis Schlafly."

Proof of neutrality? That’s proof of BIAS!

As anyone knows, for years, on my Freep Page, I have touted Phyllis Schafley as a genuine American hero. She fought against all odds almost single-handedly for years, and was the most prominent person in defeating the equal rights amendment.

The fact that she defeated the equal rights amendment (or at least lead the charge to defeat it) causes ignorant people to determine she was some kind of female version of the male chauvinist caveman, fighting for her rights to be subservient to men.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Phyllis Schafley understood the differences between men and women, and understood that the equal rights amendment would destroy centuries of Efforts by many societies around the world to implement protections for women that were codified and cultural and legal processes.

That is the important thing: these were protections for women.

Phyllis Schafley understood fully that ratifying the equal rights amendment would remove those protections. Her strength was being able to have the courage to ask the questions “what if this happens?“ To display a particular facet of Available protections for women that would be corroded and destroyed by the passing of the ERA.

In my lifetime, the demonizing and verification of Phyllis Schlafly Has been one of the most ironic twists on the stupidity of feminism I have ever seen. Phyllis Schlafly Was a real woman who understood the strengths and weaknesses of women And fully understood that a relative weakness in one area compared to another did not Translate to a full inferiority of some kind for women.

The ironic thing is, “feminists” do believe that.

I’ve been seeing this advertised. Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly. And roles for Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan and the usual suspects of the ‘60s and ‘70s. If it were accurate, it would show that Phyllis Schafly almost single-handedly defeated the president and Congress and a number of state legislatures to defeat the ERA. She was a true heroine and the definition of a citizen patriot. Whereas Steinem and Freidan et al were just a bunch of kvetching hypocrites and navel-gazers who in the long run have done enormous damage to women’s lives.

Okay I'll pass.

Obvioulsy she must have been. Otherwise, she never would have been able to accomplish what she did.

If you think Phyllis Schlafley was some kind of abused, shrinking violet, you are mentally disturbed.

Hear hear! If feminists had any integrity or intellectual honestly, they would realize Phyllis Schafly is a true icon of feminism and celebrate her as such. She showed what one determined woman could accomplish. Compare and contrast her achievements with any of the leading feminist icons. They are found to be severely wanting.

No kidding...That is one of the things that I hold up as something that exposes them for the frauds they are.

That exactly. Phyllis Schlafly was an intellectual giant, and Gloria Steinem is a intellectually stunted, hateful sexist.

That about sums it up.
