I say, LET them do it. While the rest of the nation is back up and roaring by July, they'll have their States on lockdown, reminding me of those pictures you used to see of east and west Berlin during the Cold War.

When November comes along, everyone will know who to vote for.

The 10 states, mostly led by Democrats...

What an article - talks about 10 states, but doesn't name any of them, except for NY.

But the "mostly" part indicates to me all I need to know. Like, when Homer said once: "Please don't be the boy... please don't be the boy...", I know the "boy" here will include Massachusetts.

So, let me see if I understand this strategy?

Trump allows the economies of the rest of the states to re-open and these states experience explosive growth.

These Dem governors keep their states closed and they languish in recession.

How does this aid democrats in November?

How much is McKinsey & Co’s so-called work costing NYS taxpayers?

Inquiring minds want to know, Cuomo.

In stark contrast to this stellar record of accomplishment and the firm’s enviable global reputation, two recent New York Times articles paint a discordant portrait, focusing on a darker aspect of McKinsey’s global operations, namely its prominent role as a key advisor to authoritarian governments in places like China, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Turkey.

To be fair, if President Hillary was pushing for a lockdown through the summer and several Republican Govs hired some private sector consultant to advise them on a May reopening plan, we would stand up and cheer.

The nation (and FR) had (and still has) a massive debate about the pros and cons of lockdown vs stay open approaches. Lockdown won.

The tide may be turning as data on the profile of the infected and dead as well as the state of the economy and suicide-potential of unemployment and vaporized business comes to light. An emerging consensus of a risk-based re-opening scheme (i.e. Reopen business but keep wearing masks and keep the kids away from grandma) seems to be taking hold. That means (among other things) that maybe the nation can be on an upswing in a few months.

Other things portend badly for the pre-COVID Status Quo. Americans now haaaaaaate Hollywood types and Imagine. They want to Buy American. They don't want to travel abroad. They thank the cashier and stockboy more than WHO et al.

Meanwhile, the DNC realizes that an emboldened economy plus a candidate who is possibly walking dementia will guarantee a Trump victory. Also. Two of the six states with size-adjusted COVID fatalities higher than the national average are Blue and their statist policies don't play well in the public square.

So, what is a Dem gov to do? Acknowledge that what's best for their state's citizens is to do what may help Trump get re-elected? No....they put party above people....always... It is in their best political interest to keep the economy shut down. Their problem is, that the emerging consensus is contrary to that party above people mandate.

So, they will pin all of this on a consulting firm. It's actually pretty smart politically. It's bad for millions of Americans, but who said politicians cared about their constituents?

Trump ultimately has the trump card over the Demonrat governors. Trump will not win any of these blue states. If he starts opening the federal government and encourages businesses to open their doors and the governors don’t follow suit, they will be blamed for their financial crisis. And Trump can let it be known that the feds will bail out the states.

What is going to happen when Californians and New Yorkers locked up in their homes see images of Texans going about their lives without ill-effect? They must be counting on the legacy media concealing the truth, but it isn’t the 1970s anymore.

Al Reuters strikes again.
“Trump proof” means more homelessness (California alone accounts for a massive 33% of all the homeless in America), more shootings and murders, less economic growth, more coronavirus infections and deaths (New York State alone accounts for over 40 % of all coronavirus deaths if their figures are to be believed) and more chaos, confusion and chaos.

I think “Trump proof” will go like this:

The lib states will reopen almost following Trump’s guidance.
The media will report that the dimrats are going the opposite way that Trump suggests and so on.

The states cannot print money, and the longer their states are shut down, their less tax money they can grab.

Money = Power.

The Farm Belt, The Dairy Belt, The Beef and Chicken Belt, all the food-producing companies that exist outside of these states all need to develop a “Democrat-Proof Plan” for when these states decide it is too unsafe to return to work. The simple plan would read something like this:

All agricultural/beef/poultry/pork/and all other food stuff shipping should cease to those states deemed by their elected officials to be unsafe due to the lack of proper containment and control of the Covid-19 virus. Shipping to these states will resume once these states, and their elected officials, have provided evidence of having safely contained and controlled the Covid-19 virus. Such evidence will include, but not be limited to declaring their states a “safe to return to work zone”. This will ensure that shippers, truckers and other workers in the food industry are not unnecessarily exposed to the Covid-19 virus.

Let’s see how long their starving constituents will abide by their foolish decisions to “Trump-Proof” their states and hamstring the US economy.

“Trump Proof”? - meaning not prosperous or built on job growth or prosperity? More welfare and food stamps?

Go ahead, throw the voters of your 10 states to Trump, as they watch the rest of the country open up more and faster than they do. The voters in those ten states will realize they are not being sheltered, they are being corraled, like a herd.
