Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) announced Wednesday that the city's stay-at-home order would be extended through May 15 as the coronavirus pandemic continues to hamstring the nation's capital.
The extension applies to all social distancing guidelines that Bowser had already put in place, meaning that schools and nonessential businesses will stay closed. Bowser said that the city would need to see a continuous two-week decline in hospitalizations and positive tests before considering relaxing measures.
Additionally, Bowser said that D.C. residents must now wear some sort of face covering or mask at hotels and in taxis and rideshares. The city's Metro system has also requested that riders wear face coverings while using public transit. Last week, Bowser ordered all shoppers at grocery stores in the District to wear face masks.
The mayor said that the face coverings should be tight and encompass both the mouth and the nose, but that they didn't necessarily need to be surgical masks, saying that personal protective equipment such as surgical masks and N95s should be reserved for the health care professionals on the front lines.

We don’t have a King, but we have a Queen.
The President may,or may not, have the power to overrule such an order in the 50 states but I’d bet everything I have that he has that power in DC.
Hey Mayor:
GO FU*K YOURSELF!
Everywhere this goes beyond the end of April, there will be fewer and fewer people complying by the day.
I’ve noticed here in Texas in the past few days, a lot more cars are on the streets.
In my area of KY my wife and I have very little need to ever go out now that I’m working at home, but when we do, there is no reduction in traffic or anything. People here already used the drive up windeows of restaurants, so those lines are even longer. But other than that, no real change.
Yeah thats going to work out well with the bruthas.
That’s OK.
DC doesn’t produce anything of value anyway.
An average of 4 deaths per day attributable to COVID and theyre hamstrung.
Whatever.
Ive noticed the same in Virginia,
May 15th?
The hell with that! Maybe in a city of paper-pushers and folks on the dole, but other places had better not get any ideas.
They won't have to comply. Nor will the vagrants, homeless, or Muslims.
But they consume and some states are are setting up checkpoints at borders. I have to deliver something to a customer in DC and I’m going to wait awhile.
I wonder if she will suspend the city laws forbidding/limiting the use of plastic bags in favor of the dirty cloth bags.
Trump could stop it immediately by rescinding the national emergency on a state by state basis. Once the federal funds dry up a state would be forced to lift quarantine or collapse under the debt load.
A large percentage of DC residents are on the dole anyway, so...
Good luck in forcing that pretty soon , you democratic moron
The big boys are going to announce their re-opening strategy this week and I expect that all of America will be open by May 1 , regardless of some of these want to be dictators trying to dictate otherwise
Of course just like its only Democrats that want to try to force everybody to get vaccines - its also Democrats that want to force everybody to stay at home or anything else
Hopefully POTUS will tackle a few thing during this Emergency, that he otherwise would not be able to do, and quickly get us back to the business of living
I’m sure he’s wise to the Dems, Constitutionally Illegal Alliances !!!
