The Briarcliff Skilled Nursing Center in Carthage is now reporting two deaths related to COVID-19, as well as seven residents and five staff members who have tested positive, in an update Tuesday on their website.

The facility has had 28 people tested for coronavirus. Five residents tested negative.

The facility said eight residents and one employee had pending tests.

Here's the problem. There are 20 cases and 3 deaths in my county as of yesterday, and 14 of them are in the two local nursing homes. An outside heath care worker who routinely works between the two facilities tested positive and managed to infect many people in the facilities. The staff in the two facilities has been crying out for more PPE and tests, but the management won't test until you show symptoms. Obviously, then it's too late. Otherwise, they want the employees to pay for their own tests! It's all about money! Until we fix this, it's not safe to go back to business as usual.

Had a chat with my daughter about this. She is an ICU nurse.

She says that she believes that her hospital actually has sufficient supplies of PPE and can get more through state authorities as Pence has said. She blames the problem on nitwit hospital administrators who continue to manage to the bottom line and their quarterly bonus, even in the middle of a pandemic.

The test problem is simply the fact that we can’t crank them out fast enough. Another reason why the idea that we’re going to test 350 million people is a pipedream.

Most nursing homes are run the same way but with smaller budgets. No fancy stainless steel surfaces, no high dollar machines, $8-12 hourly pay for most which is fast food joint pay. Most workers are either kids or 50-60 year old women with health problems themselves. Then of course the residents are all vulnerable. It’s a damn shame but it’s the way it is.

The one my wife works at finally gave them surgical masks last week and also gave them paper bags to store them in at the facility. Of course they didn’t have enough paper bags because that would require being able to count. I have no idea how long they’re supposed to wear the one mask for. No mention of cleaning or replacing them that I’ve heard.

Two things.

Immediately put these people who are infected or who could be infected by virtue of close proximity on HCQ+Zinc.

If after doing this monitor closely and take additional steps as needed, which based on the high number of very successful treatment of this virus using the “Trump Drugs” will be limited at most.

That's a great idea. Except, that stuff is about as rare as unicorns in my area.

If you leave it out in the sun, the UV rays should kill the virus. Also, a dip in rubbing alcohol should do the trick.

“That’s a great idea. Except, that stuff is about as rare as unicorns in my area.”

Since the drug is not scarce, that it is not available in your area is most certainly due to politics. The drug is being used in virtually every Hospital as mentioned in stories I have read here and elsewhere.

Have you spoken with your Dr. about availability should you be unfortunate enough to catch the China virus?

Exactly why the "lock down" of the general society needs to end NOW!!! We know exactly where the high risk areas are....

All medical and EMS workers need to be tested REGULARLY, IMO. I mean whose to say you won’t test negative on Monday and then walk through a sneeze on Tuesday and suddenly it is brewing in your system. This is certainly far more likely to happen in a hospital than what the rest of us are exposed to.

Then they also need immunity testing.

Wife just got home. They went to homemade masks provided by the community. They get worn for one shift and then get washed.

Not yet. But, since he is not the pharmacist, I don't know how much he would know about supply. And, it's definitely all about money. Out of 20 cases in my county to date, 14 of them are in the two local nursing homes. The pirates that own them won't order tests unless you already show symptoms.

Your state regulates nursing homes—since it provides Medicaid payments to them.

They can shut down any of these nursing homes faster than you can say “surprise inspection”.

FYI....

Yessir. If the average hospital administrator is a pinhead, the average nursing home administrator is worse by an order of magnitude.

Look at the 3000+ bodies that New York State suddenly added to the virus death count yesterday.

What is happening is that hospitals are clearing their books of all indigent cases while the Feds are still paying for them. Some uninsured person who died of a gunshot wound in January has no doubt been reclassified as a COVID victim.

It’s Medicare Fraud on steroids. Mr. Barr???

Why all the testing. If you’re around enough people you will get the Virus. Just have HCQ and Zinc pills available for sale to the public and problem of the virus is solved.

We will have enough testing equipment very soon. But the real key to reopening the economy is the Trump Cure and three other cures that I know of. The H in the Trump cure is also a preventative that can be used on the High and Medium risk groups of folks. By the way: the Trump Cure may work on the flu as well.

Most will be asymptomatic and will require nothing at all.
