The mayor of Auburn is facing backlash and calls for his removal from office following posts and comments he made last week on Facebook, which appeared to compare supporters of President Donald Trump to the Ku Klux Klan amid criticism of the presidents response to the coronavirus.
Dr. Bill Kirby, the mayor of Placer Countys seat and a urologist, announced Monday evening that he intends to hand over the mayoral duties to a fellow council member, Auburn Journal reported.
Kirby allegedly shared a reposted meme last Thursday from his personal Facebook account. The image depicted a hooded KKK member and included the text: Good news for Trump supporters is that most of them already have masks, a reference to an increasing number of state and federal guidelines recommending the general public wear face coverings to curb the spread of the coronavirus, which causes the deadly disease known as COVID-19.

Lewis Grizzard (R.I.P.):
Question:Where do the Klan members go to get their stupid hats?
Answer: KKK Mart.
“Someday I may deliver a urine sample to his grave.”
Call me and we both can contribute.
Tell me the counties that are pubbies...and their POP....
You got it.
Funny.
I read that after years and years of putdowns by Dorothy Kilgallen, the columnist, Frank Sinatra lived long enough to do that.
Note: I liked her and according to at least two books she was murdered for telling a friend she had the documents and interview notes that would show who really killed JFK and who sent them. One clue: in her bed she was supposedly reading a book when she died but the stupid killers set the book in her hands upside down! And the book she held was one she had told two people "that was one of the worst books I ever read. I wish I had the time back that I wasted on that one." And the bed was one she never slept in but kept made up. The killers didn't know that but friends did.
Her death is used as an example of mixing alcohol and barbiturates but the lab results showed that was not true despite planted news media stories. Gosh, you can't trust the news media? That's a shock./s
Im not sure of your point, but Im happy to accommodate: California has 58 counties. Because of the large number of independents, only six counties have a majority of one party, and all are rats. Of the remaining 52,exactly half: (Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Coulsa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Inyo, Kern, Kongs, Lassen, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Modoc, Orange,
Placer, plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tulare, Tuolomne,
And Yuba,) have GOP pluralities. The aggregate population of these counties is 6.4 Million, which I would point out, apropos to my earlier comment, is 50% more than the entire population of your state. So again Im not sure what your point was, but there are the stats.
What would be nice is something frequently lacking on this site, namely the recognition of my brothers and sisters in other states that there are
Millions of us here in California who keep up the good fight despite getting our brains bashed in with great regularity
The above article is from 2015. 8>)
Great story, I liked Dorothy too.
I do not live there......Moved out of there many years ago.
Unfortunately it is also the prime area people leaving SF are moving to.
Wow, people were sure pissed off at this dick.
what say you Virginia, Maryland, NJ, NY, Kentucky, Michigan, SF? Do you not have the same dicks in your state? RECALL
That’s good. Never heard that one before.
People in California are p!ssed. This was supposed to score points with Californians, and it backfired. Something is shifting on the left coast, and it’s all San Andreas’ fault.
Why? Barbers and cab drivers can be political idiots, but doctors can’t? So long as he doesn’t deliberately harm a patient, he has a constitutional right to be a leftist, racist pig with a big fat mouth. But it makes for bad mayors.
As a whole, Placer County including Auburn itself remains conservative, but being so close to Sacramento and, even worse, Davis (a UofC campus town), the self-described “Progressive” disease of Leftism — similar in many respects to the progressive disease of cancer — is invading the healthy portions of the surrounding counties.
In a word, no. If this is how said individual feels or publicly reacts, it seriously calls into question how he performs his duties as a physician. Since many people feel that the best way to deal with a Klansman is to kill them, if this person has any Republican patients (and where he lives, it is a GOP county), he could be putting their lives and any treatment at risk.
If I were a patient of his, knowing how he regards politically sane people, I would be extraordinarily suspect and worried about his “care.” I absolutely believe it’s enough to warrant investigation and a suspension or loss of his medical license. Same goes for that deranged nurse from Florida we discussed last week.
It’s a substantial difference of a medical worker vs. a barber or cab driver.
“If this is how said individual feels or publicly reacts, it seriously calls into question how he performs his duties as a physician. “
OK. So investigate. Summary suspension of a license for political speech, however, is injudicious and un-American.
“If I were a patient of his, knowing how he regards politically sane people, I would be extraordinarily suspect and worried about his care.”
Which is why there are other doctors. If you don’t like one for whatever reason, you go to another one.

Sidney Poitier played a black doctor in a town embroiled in a race riot, and at the end of the film he calmly and professionally tends to the injured leader of the white faction of the riot, one hateful SOB. Powerful film. Available on YouTube.

Speech is speech. But there are also consequences. You can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater. His “speech” indicates he is of unsound mind and a clear and present threat to his patients (who may not know how he really feels about non-politically sane individuals).
Curiously, I don’t think he should be automatically forced out of office for exposing his deranged fascism - since strong political feelings come with being in politics. He should be defeated at the ballot box along with his colleagues that support him. It’s strictly the medical profession part that is of paramount concern to me.
It at most indicates probable cause that he might be of unsound mind. It ought to be looked into by a competent investigative body, some sort of professional board. But “speech” is not enough to get him summarily stripped of a license that must have taken years of hard study and work to obtain. Should Governor Northam lose his license because of his penchant for wearing black face and legalizing baby killing?
For support of infanticide ? Yes. Violation of the Hippocratic Oath.
