A COVID-19 patient at St. Lukes Hospital in Phillipsburg was taken off a ventilator following an experimental blood plasma treatment. Convalescent plasma, in this case plasma from survivors of COVID-19, is being used to treat seriously ill coronavirus patients.
---SNIP--- The Lehigh Valleys Miller-Keystone Blood Center is collecting plasma, the liquid component of blood, from people who have recovered from COVID-19 for convalescent plasma programs.

OSU just did one today too.
Correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t this imply the importance of heard immunity?

No,but it might imply the importance of herd immunity. :-)
Yes.

Ok, either whey.
Yes. No. Not really the same thing.
This person got well by “borrowing” the antibodies someone else developed.
In herd immunity, you have a sick person. Who does not go onto start an evil game of 7 Degrees of Kevin Bacon because most everyone he bumps into doesn’t get sick because they’ve already been sick (or been immunized). So the disease doesn’t spread.
There is no “borrowing” of the antibodies in heard immunity — although we do rely on them.
heard = herd
funny one Good catch !! ...
I wonder how much that costs compared to the Trump pill.
hydroxychloroquine is less than impressive on patients on a ventilator. This is a very promising treatment fir those most ill. it also gave some good success in ebola treatment

Never hurd of that.
They have a movie (Documentary) out there somewhere. Watched it in BIO II class.
Base of it was a Doc and his nurse working with Ebola in Africa. She got it and was fixing to get shaded when he said “what the heck” let’s give the plasma a try.
Ebola doesn’t kill everybody and a survivor was at hand and he did the plasma deal and she lived.
That started further investigation of the treatment.
