Johns Hopkins University of Medicines Coronavirus Resource Center, as of April 13 at 7:02 a.m., reported 557,590 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in the United States and 22,109 deaths due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.
The current population of the United States, according to WorldOMeters.info, is just over 330 million.
Do the math. That means 0.17 percent of Americas population has been infected by the coronavirus. That means 0.007 percent of Americas population has died from the coronavirus we think.

Stupid article by a non serious writer. This is the type of trash that routinely appears in the examiner.
And the left would tell us social distancing made the difference! Keep doing it, wear your mask, surrender your liberty! It will all be fine.
When one asserts that “death rates are ridiculously low”, I tend to think the person’s logic is ridiculously lacking...
The reason the number of cases isn’t higher is because we’re all in quarantine.
I work at a small Northern California hospital that usually has between 15 and 25 patients.
We opened up a wing that had been shut down by the previous owners and took about 30 beds out of mothballs along with all the paraphernalia it takes to monitor patients (you have no idea how much crap it takes) to get ready for overflow from Sacramento.
We haven't had to use a single bed. And our patient count has been as low as 8 in the last month.
We are laying off employees and/or cutting hours.
Lucky for me, most of our housekeeping staff quit before this all hit so I've been working 40+ hours a week plus a side job doing building and grounds maintenance at a local duck club. Even the duck deaths were down this year.
What she meant was death rates are disappointingly low...
They are not in quarantine in Sweden, and their death rate isn’t any higher than ours.
I think we are destroying ourselves over a bad flu.
What’s stupid about it? The math is accurate and the opinions are valid. We have shut down the country for 6 weeks and counting because the experts told us there would be 2M death from C19, and in reality there have been slightly over 20K. And when you look at the percentage of the population effected it looks even worse for the experts. Seems like a pretty solid argument to me.
Bugs hardest hit...
This article is confusing the effects of mitigation with the effects of COVID-19. Currently in the United States the ratio of deaths to cases is about 3%. Omitting lag times this means that 3% of people who test positive die. If we only have a 0.1% overall death rate it means that the vast majority of Americans have not been exposed because of social distancing.
Was that just a coincidence?
And to top it off, there is a cheap, known cure that has been suppressed by Democrats to prolong the destruction.
There is no cheap known cure for the common flu. This could be much less dangerous than the flu if it weren’t for corrupt Democrats.
Yes.
Swedish Virus Deaths Top 1,000, Fueling Criticism Over Strategy
(excerpt)
“In all, 1,033 Swedes have died from Covid-19, official figures showed on Tuesday. Though still well below fatality rates in Italy and the U.K., its far worse than in any of the Nordic countries with which Sweden usually compares itself. The Swedish mortality rate is almost 10 times higher than in Finland, more than four times higher than in Norway, and twice Denmarks.”
Heh, heh.
WELL PLAYED!!!
On that basis, Sweden has about 5,700 more deaths from COVID-19 than the US. That means we are 'beating' them. But they haven't vaporized their service sector.
Time will tell which approach is best.
U.S. population: 328,000,000
France/Germany/Italy/U.K./Spain population: 324,000,000
Coronavirus deaths:
-U.S.: 20,463
-F/G/I/UK/S: 62,553
