How delays and unheeded warnings hindered New York’s virus fight (Flight 701 and Typhoid Mary)
NY Times via Boston.Com ^ | 04/08/2020 | J. David Goodman

A 39-year-old woman took Flight 701 from Doha, Qatar, to John F. Kennedy International Airport in late February, the final leg of her trip home to New York City from Iran.

A week later, on March 1, she tested positive for the coronavirus, the first confirmed case in New York City of an outbreak that had already devastated China and parts of Europe. The next day, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, appearing with Mayor Bill de Blasio at a news conference, promised that health investigators would track down every person on the woman’s flight. But no one did

No need to click. The major take away is that Benito Cuomo and Vladimir Di Blasio failed to track the passengers on Flight 701 as promised.
Flight 701 is one of the reasons NYC became the epicenter of the ChiCom flu. In reality there were probably many points of failure but if they screwed up and lied about something this basic its no wonder New York city is in such a mess.

I Should have put flight 701 instead of 107 in my headline.

Somehow, I expect the New York Times to conclude this was all Trump’s fault.

SHOCKER----NY Times: Cuomo And De Blasio Didn’t Keep Up With The Outbreak
Hotair ^ | 04/08/20 | JOHN SEXTON Posted by CaptainK
Finally, belatedly, the NY Times has published an article which takes a hard look at the coronavirus response by Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio. The article concludes that neither elected official did a great job responding to the virus: (Excerpt) Read more at hotair.com ...

Duped New Yorkers are urging DeBlasio to rid the city of his Hand-picked Health Commissioner.
She stupidly put NY'ers at risk with her sucking up and social justice garbage

On Feb. 2, with the city’s first suspected coronavirus case under investigation and China’s death toll skyrocketing, NYC’s first latina Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot touted upcoming crowded NYC Chinese New Year events. “As we gear up to celebrate the #LunarNewYear in NYC, I want to assure New Yorkers that there is no reason for anyone to change their holiday plans, avoid the subway, or certain parts of the city because of #coronavirus,” she tweeted.

December 19, 2018---Mayor de Blasio And His Wife Announce First Latina Health Commissioner

NEW YORK—Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the Latina Health Commissioner will double down on the agency’s commitment to achieving health equity. Dr. Barbot understands that improving the health of our city starts with keeping health equity at the center of our work,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “

First Lady Chirlane McCray: “Dr. Barbot has dedicated her life to eliminating disparities and injustices in health care,” said “I am proud to welcome a public servant so deeply committed to ensuring that the WHOLE patient is treated—mind and body. New York City is fortunate to have such an exceptional new Health Commissioner.”

Flight 701 was a known problem in NYC. There obviously were many uknown or unpublicised cases before this date.

With all the stories I’m reading about asymptomatic COVID-19 cases and untested cases from months ago, I’d say the disease was in NYC long before March 1st.

The Slimes couldn’t resist:
“Normally, New York would get help from Washington in such a time, as it did after Sept. 11. But President Donald Trump in February and early March minimized the coronavirus threat, clashing with his own medical experts and failing to marshal the might of the federal government soon after cases emerged in the United States.”

Now they WANT Trump to be a dictator! And how dare he clash with EXPERTS!?!?!

DeBlassio and Cuomo will work to cover their own tracks.
It is never their fault in incompetence. New York continues to suffer, while the liberal media protects their own.

Unbelievable there’s such politically and racially bitter people in such positions.

“By March 5, de Blasio seemed to acknowledge the virus had spread beyond control. “You have to assume it could be anywhere in the city,” he said.

Still, not wanting to cause undue alarm, he told New Yorkers to go on with their normal lives, which left many confused about the danger they faced.

The city’s health commissioner, Dr. Oxiris Barbot, had sought to reassure commuters, in early February, that “this is not something that you’re going to contract in the subway or on the bus.” The mayor reiterated the point several times in early March.”

NY sanctuary city is a political cesspool of corruption, nepotism, diversity, PC, racial, and social justice.

“The mayor and his aides worried about the effect on the poorest and most vulnerable New Yorkers. For de Blasio, whose progressive political identity has been defined by his attention to the city’s have-nots, the crisis presented a stark and unwelcome choice to harm some New Yorkers in order to save others.

“If you suddenly in one day close down the schools, how do you make sure that you are providing for these kids and their parents?” said Emma Wolfe, a top aide to de Blasio. “We’re not in the suburbs. We can’t tell people to stay at home and play around in your yard.””

Social justice kills.

>> But President Donald Trump in February and early March minimized the coronavirus threat,

On February 29th the lead FedGov epidemiologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci of the CDC, went on the Today Show and said: “Right now, at this moment, there is no need to change anything you’re doing on a day-by-day basis. Right now the risk is still low. But this could change. I’ve said that many times even on this program. You’ve got to watch out, because although the risk is low now, you don’t need to change anything you’re doing. When you start to see community spread, this could change.”

https://www.today.com/video/dr-fauci-on-coronavirus-fears-no-need-to-change-lifestyle-yet-79684677616

So the idea that Trump should have done something hugely different much earlier than he did is bunk, based on the advice he was getting from the key player at his disposal.

She served as health commissioner of Baltimore before DeBlasio appointed her in NYC. Charm City is soooo healthy thanks to her efforts there. /s
