Social restrictions aimed at stopping the spread of the coronavirus could have saved lives if they’d been started earlier, and when they’re eased new cases are certain to arise, said the nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, seeming to draw the ire of President Donald Trump.
Trump, who has been chafing at criticism that he didn’t do enough early on to fight the virus, reposted a tweet that referenced Fauci’s comments and that said “Time to #FireFauci.” Trump again pointed to his decision in late January to restrict travel from China, writing, “Sorry Fake News, it’s all on tape. I banned China long before people spoke up.”
When asked on CNN if earlier action on social distancing and “stay at home” policies could have saved lives, Fauci responded in part: “It’s very difficult to go back and say that. I mean, obviously, you could logically say that if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier, you could have saved lives. Obviously, no one is going to deny that. But what goes into those kinds of decisions is complicated.”

Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said he would investigate what warnings from the intelligence community and health organizations that President Donald Trump ignored in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic.
On “real-time oversight,” Schiff said, “We are right now going through our intelligence holdings. What did the intelligence community make us aware of at the end of last year or earlier this year? Other committees are doing like analyses.” He continued, “It is very important, I think, in reviewing the intelligence component to this to realize the intelligence piece is just one piece of the warnings coming to the administration. A lot of those warnings were in the public domain. They came from public health organizations, like WHO or CDC or his own National Security Council, and ignored those warnings. Limit Fauci’s appearances if possible. I f Trump fires him, it will create a full court press from the MSM against Trump. Fauci will become the darling fo the NYT, Wapo, Msnbc and of course CNN.

Unless I missed it, there was no mention in the article of Fauci’s prior statements. Fauci is a weenie. He should have simply said, “Look, this virus took many people by surprise since China did not inform the world. I, myself, thought it would be less dangerous than it turned out to me.”
Instead, he wants to project himself as the smartest person in the room, and he forgets that recorded statements can be brought back easily by people that seek to find them.

Huh? It sure sounded like Fauci just tendered his resignation from both the Task Force and the NIH. He is planning on being a “commentator” at CNN. He sure does love the camera time, doesn’t he?
Add a couple, not leftists, doctors (perhaps actual virologist)? to the team. And just ignore Dr Doom and Dr scarf.
That is Trump’s way out.
The medical field is not united in lockstep behind Fauci on this. There are plenty of other accomplished physicians who think there are effective things we can do short of immolating our economy.
Trump needs to choose some and get them in front of microphones TODAY!

if our immigration policy was not so porous and we had stricter travel restrictions, wow, how many lives could have been saved by listening to President Trump...
what ifs and have nots have no place in strategies to fight this pandemic, only a place to fight this president.
All this “blame Trump for Covid-19” must be pushed back with the facts:
Fact #1: It is the CDC’s rules — that it be the sole provider of virus testing — and their distribution of a faulty and delay-ridden test at the onset of this event — that caused the delay in testing that everyone is citing as cause of spreading in US.
Fact #2: During Obama administration the NIH provided grant to the CHINESE LAB IN WUHAN to make the bat corona virus more potent.
There is no blame to Trump. He is masterfully handling the cluster-f**k that was handed to him by Obama and Obama era hold-over staff.
