Fauci Rejects CNN Doctor's Assessment of Trump Admin's Coronavirus Response

South Korea announced its first coronavirus cases around the same time the U.S. did, back in January. Yet, two months later and the U.S. has 50 times more cases and almost 100 times more fatalities. CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta has suggested that that discrepancy is because the U.S. did not act quickly enough on its mitigation efforts.

"i think that we acted late, Jake," he told CNN host Jake Tapper on Sunday's "State of the Union."

He added that we "did not test adequately," and it allowed the virus to circulate in communities across the country.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told Tapper that Gupta's assessment was "unfair.

"You know it isn't as simple as that, Jake, I'm sorry," Fauci responded.

It's unfair to compare us to South Korea, Fauci explained, because they were able to completely shut everything down, a move that the U.S. "may not have been able to do." There were several factors to consider.

"I don't think you can say we are where we are because of one factor," Fauci said. "It's very complicated, Jake."

Fauci, a White House coronavirus task force member, conceded that "obviously" if they had started the mitigation process and social distancing earlier, lives could have been spared. But, the doctor refused to get into hypotheticals. What goes into those kinds of decisions, he argued, is "complicated."

"There was a lot of pushback about shutting things down back then," Fauci recalled.

Yet, Dr. Fauci expressed his cautious optimism that America could be turning the tide soon, as the rate of hospializations are beginning to level in hotspots like New York City. Once we get the capability to test in real time, he noted, we can begin a "gradual, rolling reentry" to normal life.

Dr. Anthony Fauci expresses “hopeful... cautious optimism” as signs emerge that the coronavirus curve may have begun to flatten. https://t.co/Y3z65Z1EFy pic.twitter.com/YUfyXKPLdz— State of the Union (@CNNSotu) April 12, 2020

The media keep twisting Fauci’s words, just as they do with Trump.

More blame goes to China and our complicit LSM attacking the President and his plans of action. Blame the tyrannical DemoRat governors those who would act like dictators and esp those who squashed access to hydroxychloroquine Rx. Truly they have helped cause the deaths of some C-19 patients. Blame those moron and often evil loving voters who elect such godless drecks. We will get past this mess but those losers were roadblocks along the way.

Maybe CNN caved and is going to carry the pressers. Guess we’ll see.

Fauci got his hackles up because Gupta attacked his precious public health bureaucracy. He probably would have let him attack Trump.

Dr Fauci is the head of a Federal Agency, he rubs elbows and kisses up to Democrats and Republicans. He is going to speak well of his current boss and who might be his next boss. It comes with the territory.

He has had people from both sides looking for excuses to attack, again, it comes with the job. He is not to back down now. Case in point, he is not putting up with CNN either.

People in the Family are beginning to think we made have had it in January. I was sick for two weeks with “something” back then.

The antibody tests will tell the tale.

Dr. Fraudci is encouraging the anti-Trump media to ‘ask’ him questions because Dr. Birx is avoiding politics.

I wouldn’t put it past a doctor with a Napoleonic Complex to try to sabotage the Administration’s success in reopening America with a made up tantrum followed by a fiery resignation. It’s the commies last chance to get rid of Trump. They will invent something big to exploit. Nothing else worked!

Stay tuned.

Fauci studied Aids and advised 6 Presidents on it. Which were: Presidents Ronald Reagan, George Herbert Walker Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, that arrogant pos former occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, (you know of who I am talking about, and finally President Trump.

It seems to me that what they mean by “Trump not acting quickly enough” is that the early testing roll-out was, let’s face it, a mess.

But a mess of the deep-state FDA and CDC bureaucrats, who just stumbled along in their usual fashion preventing university and private labs from doing what needed to be done.

It’s a tricky argument for the MSM and the #resistance. For that line of propaganda to work, one has to imagine that the President makes every single decision in the executive branch. What did happen is that somehow, in contrast to every FDA policy since at least 1990, the FDA suddenly started getting out of the way. Obviously, that was Trump’s doing, and something that a Democrat president would never do.

The Journal Editorial Report on Fox on weekends is sometimes worth watching (several pundits, some of whom try to be fair to Trump, and some of them offering details you won't find elsewhere on TV), but yesterday it was pre-empted by their usual weekend unwatchables (which happens quite often).

I know a few people who think they had it for sure..it would be nice to have the antibody test done for everyone who believes they might have had it and fully recovered

Odd that they did not make the comparison as per capita instead of absolute numbers.

Yes, because they are liars. But they are all about the SCIENCE, don't you know.

CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta

I think he was at the WH presser after PDJT's first health physical and he was trying to argue with Trump's doctor that had performed the physical. What a total jerk.

And if Fauci’s group hadn’t screwed up the tests at first....

Fauci is at NIH. The CDC screwed up the tests.
