Post-virus America can be a decentralized, more accountable country in school, business, and government.
My parents' generation, that of the War of 193945, looked forward to the peace with wistful ballads like "When They Sound the Last All Clear" and "When the Lights Come On Again." I doubt if our time will hear "When I Go Back to the Office Again" or "When We Go Back to School Again." After all, home confinement doesn't match spending nights in crowded basements or Tube stations during Luftwaffe bombings. Nevertheless, the Coronavirus Crisis is likened to a war, and many relate to Thomas Paine's words, "These are times that try men's souls." Paine's pamphlet, "The Crisis," appeared two days before Christmas 1776, the low point of the American Revolution. The day after Christmas, though, Washington led the Continental Army in his surprise attack on Trenton. The ensuing battle ended the Christmas Crisis of 1776, and it was a turning point in the War of Independence. It is possible that COVID-19 may soon be defeated as decisively as the Hessians at Trenton.
The Lenten Crisis of 2020 also tries men's souls. After it, many lives will have been ended; survivors' lives are being changed, temporarily at least, and perhaps permanently. Life may return to a semblance of normal by summer. Will The Normal be identical to The Before? The Coronavirus Crisis may, like wars, bring about changes, often radical social and political changes, that would not have occurred in "normal" times.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be carrying a spray bottle of IPA 70% with me every where from now on.
One thing is certain: we Americans are willing to give up our Liberties and Freedom.
The government is taking note.
Face masks will be a new fashion accessory.
The government is taking note.
That is pretty clear....and scary.
So do we fight?
Or capitulate?
“Face masks will be a new fashion accessory.”
As soon as I started seeing people wearing them, I understood the hesitancy of the gov to recommend them.
I saw a guy grab his by the front, pull it down onto his neck, then use the same hand to grab a cigarette and smoke it.
He would have been at less risk without wearing one.
When summer hits and people want to go on vacation, have vacation bible school, go to the pool, etc and if we're told no.....then we'll find out if we fight or capitulate.
I think Trump inherently understands and knows this.
I'm praying he has the wisdom on when to make the call.
If we don't buy it, WalMart and Home Depot won't re-order it.
I’m pretty sure I won’t, nor will I wear a mask for all occasions.
I suspect some companies will begin to decentralize their offices, not because of safety, instead because this may have proven that having all employees together all the time isn’t necessary.
I can’t wait to start shaking hands again. Personal physical contact is a necessity and a handshake is all many people ever get.
I would really like to see decentralization.
To get an idea of what post-Wuhan America will be like, look at some photographs of America in 1931-1933.
Face masks will be a new fashion accessory.

Only for hysterical pearl clutchers.
I love to drink IPA.
Thinking logically, this thing is not going away... anymore than the flu and all of its yearly mutations is eradicated from humanity. The flu virus will always exist, and mutate, as long as humans exist.
Heck there will be new viruses and maladies of all types in the future of humanity. Do we run to our basements every time?
Accepting this fact, is important.

We can not allow ourselves to become a nation of cowering germophobes over a 100-year event.
Trump should’ve already ended this! Every prediction made by Fauci and these ridiculous models have been wrong! All we’ve accomplished is giving politicians the power to shut our economy down, and take away our freedoms. Sadly, we have FReepers who are completely cool with this.
A very scary precedent has been set. Politicians will never give up this new found power. And we let them have it willingly.
