UK Coronavirus Caccine could be ready by September, claims Oxford professor; "80% Confident It Works"

An Oxford professor says she is “80%" confident the coronavirus vaccine she is working on will be successful - and could be ready by September.

Sarah Gilbert, a professor of vaccinology, is leading a team of researchers and said they have a potential vaccine that is due to begin human trials within two weeks.

In an interview with The Times, Prof Gilbert said the autumn timeframe is “just about possible if everything goes perfectly”.

She added: "It's not just a hunch and as every week goes by we have more data to look at. I would go for 80%, that's my personal view," but warned that "nobody can promise it's going to work".

Other scientists have welcomed the news with “cautious optimism”, and highlighted that investment in production, distribution and delivery would be key to enable a mass rollout.

While not commenting directly on the Oxford trial, the Department of Health has said if vaccines prove to be safe and effective in clinical trials, there are a number of manufacturing and supply chain options available to meet the projected demands.

Professor Stephen Evans, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, said having a vaccine ready and proven to be safe is one thing, but availability in the millions of doses required for large-scale rollout across the UK with a system for delivery is a different matter.

Dr Colin Butter, associate professor and programme leader in bioveterinary science at the University of Lincoln, said it is important to understand there would not be “60-odd million doses” by September to vaccinate the entire population of the UK.

I don’t care that much about how well the vaccine works. I just want the free microchip. I want a blue one. I hope we get to pick where it goes because I want to implant it next to my heart because I love government since after all it’s the only thing we all belong to.

Nonsensical.

First, 80%? Anyone who takes a 1:5 chance against their lives is a fool.

Second, with all the crapping on Hydroxychloroquine which has proven itself as safe over 60 years of use, anyone who promotes a new drug that hasn’t been proven equally safe with decades of use has an agenda. Especially if it is only 80% which is far below the FDA’s own standards of 95%+ (or 2-sided 95% which is more like 97.5% effective and safe)

Given what we know now, at this time, hydroxychloroquine + azythromycin (depending on CV diseae) + Zinc/Copper elements, seems like an effective treatment to keep the virus in check while the immune system builds its own antibody response. That is how we humans will develop a herd immunity. HQC may be a good prophylactic, but at the very least it seems safe and effective for those who test positive and/or have symptoms and/or have underlying conditions (with some exceptions based on meds and pre-existing disease states).

Never before has such a typo made me laugh so much! It feels good. I think it bespeaks the point that we are all at over this.

80%? Fun fact, on D-day on day 1 you had a 94% chance of getting through the day without a scratch.

When the 8th Air Force had a day of 10% losses it was a very bad day. They lost 15% at Schweinfurt and the entire concept of daylight bombing was thrown into doubt.

You want me to take a rushed vaccine that is about 80% right? Go F youself...

OK, I don’t want to argue with you. But Hydroxychloroquine AT THIS TIME, is not being used to prevent Covid-19. It is used to TREAT Covid-19.

A vaccine is designed to PREVENT one from getting the disease.

I will grant that there are studies right now to see if Hydroxychloroquine can be used to prevent Covid-19 as well, but we don’t yet know.

If it is eventually known that Hydroxychloroquine can prevent Covid-19 the way it helps prevent malaria, then a vaccine will be all but moot.

I don’t give a crap what some university ditz feels.

Lets see three or four years of extensive testing on diverse populations and then it might become worth a try.

Much to the chagrin of gates, faucci, and Dr Birx who i understand has a daughter works as the Deputy Director of Strategy, Planning and Management at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Unless that is another Laura Birx-

So, we can reopen the country without a vaccine available?

You can never be sure you are getting a good batch, or that they add something in and don’t tell you about it.

I don’t trust them doing jack shiite for me. Much less a vaccine they DEMAND i take or else.

cwii begins due to tyrannical shiite like this.

maybe we should root for it, this may be the ery thing that finally gets it going. its inevitable, this may be enough to get enough people,to finally deal with these socialist despots as well as all the unconstitutionsl shiite going on the last 100 years.

Compare that 80% effectiveness (if that’s what he meant — the article is not clear to me on that) with the 40% to 60% effectiveness typical for seasonal flu vaccines.

Also, consider the likelihood of dying, if you’re in the wrong demographic, or have conditions. The vaccine won’t add to that risk — but, at 80% effectiveness, you’re only 20% as likely to catch the Wuhan Virus. IOW, it could save the lives of 80% of those who take it. There would be no downside and plenty of potential upside to taking it.

If we were discussing a vaccine that had a 20% chance of actually killing you — then, we’d be discussing a vaccine that has no chance of getting approval.
