flu runs around 1 percent mortality rate or so.
(and like from this new Virus, deaths from flu is almost all concentrated in the aged....people who are more likely to have other contributing health conditions and/or immunological weaknesses

Currently, 2% of the people who test positive for the virus are dying - you can only get a test if you are sick in most places. So this is a percentage of sick people, not a percentage of the total population.
