Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the White House Coronavirus Task Force is considering issuing certificates of immunity to Americans who have contracted and recovered from the Wuhan coronavirus.
He made it clear that testing for the virus and anti-body testing will be done on parallel tracks. This will allow health care workers to know who is actively fighting the virus versus who was asymptomatic.
"One does not essentially rule out the other," Fauci explained. "We still rely heavily and appropriately on the test to show that someone is, in fact, infected, whereas the anti-body test says that you were infected and if you're feeling well, you're very likely recovered."
The NIAID head said it's very likely that a large portion of the population has been infected and recovered but never knew they had the Wuhan coronavirus because they were asymptomatic.
According to Fauci, anti-body testing will be ramped up over the next week as President Donald Trump looks to reopen the economy and get Americans back to work.
"Can you imagine a time where Americans carry a certificate of immunity?" CNN's Alisyn Camerota asked.
"You know, that's possible," he said. Its one of those things that we talk about when we want to make sure that we know who the vulnerable people are and not. This is something thats being discussed, I think it might actually have some merit under certain circumstances."
Other countries, like Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, have implemented immunity certifications, POLITICO reported.
As of Friday, the United States has 459,165 Wuhan coronavirus cases and 16,570 deaths.
To address those problems the certificates of immunity will be on a microchip inserted under the skin of your left hand.
Just how scary is the WuFlu, COVID-19? That’s mostly a rhetorical question. I’ve had people tell me horror stories (they heard from the media), and some people on blog’s blow it off.
If you think this is a deadly pandemic then you might want to keep most people at home, or at least 6 feet away. Those who are immune can run the economy. A badge would be one way to show that one was immune.
On the other hand, if you think the Wuflu is merely the latest faux emergency, or an October Surprise delivered early, then badges, certificates, etc. may seem like a deprivation of civil liberty.
No, no and tripple no. I will not be certificated or vacinated to be tracked like a beast.
i thought they were not allowing the task force to go on CNN.
What is all this crap - including telling CNN that he wants Pitt to play him
This could be a way to get a kind of backdoor alternate voter ID. Instead of showing a driver’s license directly at the polls you have to show you have your covid test [which would be attached to your license/ID earlier].
It makes sense from a medical point of view.
...also a fascistic one.
No way.
A logistical impossibility. This man is a fool who needs to be fired NOW.
You will neither buy nor sell without the mark...
The panic-mongers are merely trying to prolong things and set up avenues for blaming trump for anything that doesn't suit their agenda...
I fail to see the need for any so-called “certificates of immunity”. Why not just do what’s been done — SUCCESSFULLY — for the past 240-odd years? Namely, after the crisis is over, repair what was destroyed and go on with life?
I will kill the first person who demands my papers please.
what comes next...
