While driving in City of Los Angeles, I noticed that recycling centers were closed...
I have one blue bag recyclable trash can and one white bag non recyclable can.
I choose the one to use randomly.
Wait a minute!
THEY CAN’T DO THAT!!!
I’m telling!
This Italian flu may be the end of recycling.... BTW - I’m calling it the Italian flu from now on. The Spanish flu started at pig farms in the United States and it exploded in a big way in Spain, so why not call this one The Italian flu? That’s where it exploded, so that’s what we should call it...
That or ‘God’s gift to the mafia’.
Reality is, even during best of time most plastics are buried and not recycled...
They’ve been doing that for 20 years now.
Wealth is created only when the value that labor produces is worth more than the cost of the labor. This is true whether the labor is from a wandering prospector digging gold from a secret mine shaft, a dirt farmer in Myanmar delicately planting a rice sprout in his 1/4 acre field, or from a team or rocket-scientists launching a communications satellite. When more wealth is produced than is consumed a society prospers. When the opposite is true, the society starves.
Recycling garbage consumes more labor than the wealth it produces. It leads in the direction of starvation, not prosperity. It is good that it is being reduced.
The “six feet” order is not necessary. Proper masks and gloves for the recycle workers would be enough. Doctors and nurses do not work six feet apart every minute of their work, and they are masked and gloved. If it’s good enough for hospitals it is good enough for other workers. A universal “Six feet” requirement with no context to it at all is NOT relevant to the knowledge of Wuhan virus infection.
Recycling (green rollout) continues in Charlotte, along with regular collection (grey rollout). But lawn waste and bulky item pickup have ceased (two additional, separate trucks are needed).
Visiting the solid waste website, citizens/subjects are told they can carry yard waste to the local dump but “charges will apply”. Also, “putting yard waste in regular garbage is illegal”.
My yard waste goes in the grey rollout...maybe even the green rollout if there’s a lot.
“I guess it is safe to assume that there is no recycling going on at this time... “
It was never going on anyway, other than for aluminum. They put the plastic on to ships to send to China, and then it all got dumped in the Pacific halfway there, or it got burnt for fuel once it made it there.
Nice to see them finally telling the truth.
