I took a look at the Nat. Geo photos from Iceland. Imagine that energy and all of that silica dust confined within a vortex of super heated volcanic gases and continuos lightning bursts? Once it reached a few thousand degrees Fahrenheit, the whole thing would ignite into plasma and become a self sustaining vortex. It would scour the earth and deposit gargantuan amounts of material many miles away, like a cosmic conveyor belt.
