Sit down movie theaters are dinosaurs anyways.
Nobody under 40 goes to a theater anymore.
I hope not. I love theaters. Used to sneak in as a kid all the time and watch movie after movie. As an adult I sometimes get the temptation.
Maybe these guys will go out of business so an American can buy it up.
Over 50 here, and I do... albeit rarely.
There are great alternatives to what everyone sees as the typical theater. As an example, in Texas, we have Alamo Drafthouse. There is also Look theater, Studio Movie Grill, the Angekika, and several others that allow you to recline in comfy chairs, have a drink with a good meal, and watch a movie, all at the same time.
As I said, it is a rare occasion that we go, but it’s a nice change from the old fashioned poorly padded chairs, sticky floors, and crap-filled concession stands of the big chains like AMC.
“Nobody under 40 goes to a theater anymore.”
Actually, the movie theaters with reclining seats etc. have been pretty popular with the under 30 crowd.
The new cineplex “bowling alley/curved screen” thing makes me nauseated anyway.
Dinosaur? LOL - not by a long shot. 2018 was a record breaking year in the US with box office receipts of 11.9 billion and 2019 was just slightly lower.
P.S. That does not include any concessions, of course.
Not true. People with kids go the the movie theater. Both of my kids who are 30 somethings go to the movies.
After this panic creates more germa-phoebes than ever, no one will go to the movies.
Back in the day my Mom was reluctant to go to the movies because of the Polio scares of the 1930s.
With all on Streaming video, comfy, snack, at home why go to a overpriced, loud, can’t hit pause, dangerous lighting issues, cell phones ring,, kids screaming, kicking back of yourseat theater. Not been nor plan to in the next 20 yrs.
What you said. Going the way of Blockbuster. Shopping malls in general to follow suit.
