Even when I was broke, I could manage three weeks. Our country (perhaps the world) has bought into the JIT (just in time) manufacturing mantra.
There used to be stockpiles of goods in between each point of the supply chain.
When a strike could cripple the country; businesses made sure they had enough raw material on hand to coast thru the shutdown.
