On Tuesday, the IHME estimated about 82,000 people will die from coronavirus disease by August. On Wednesday, that estimate was lowered to 60,415.
...Dr. Deborah Birx said at a White House news conference that models are based on what Americans are doing.
What has been so remarkable...Birx said, is how important behavioral change is, and how amazing Americans are at adapting to and following through on these behavioral changes.
Thats whats changing the rate of new cases, and thats what will change the rate of mortality going forward, she said. [...] And the actual number of deaths could be higher than we know. Some deaths due to Covid-19 may be misclassified as pneumonia deaths in the absence of positive test results, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

What bullshit.
And the numbers at Worldometer seem to indicate a leveling off trend for the numbers of new cases in the United States. It’s likely a reasonable thing to say that in a few days that leveling off will continue and then that downward trend begins (and I wonder if that is already the case if you were to take New York’s numbers out of the picture).
Assuming that’s near peak we may not even make the current 60K projection.
I’m seeing the same possibility for a peak or plateau and downward trend. We should also see noticeably and increasingly warm weather over the next few weeks with hope that we’ll get an appreciable break, at least until October.

Amazing two minds with the same thought. BS
Bravo Sierra if I ever heard it.
These POS’s should decorate lamp posts.
That looks like a possibility to me, too.
Is this virus suppose to be like AIDs? Once you get it you have it for life? Then how does the list of “infected” constantly rise higher and higher every day? We damn well know there are people who had this and got through it, so are they taken off the “infected” list?
This was not voluntary, the ‘experts’ held Trump hostage with their phony numbers!
My problem with the stats was they were signing up sick folks only.
Oh no. Then Greta Thurnberg will start up again about global warming and how were all gonna die in 10 years or some such crap.
I have an idea, can they keep Greta Thurnberg in quarantine somewhere.
Democrats count corona virus deaths the same way they count votes.
Every death is caused by whatever they want it to be.
“82,000 people will die from coronavirus disease by August”
Or about 0.025% of the population. 0.45% will die of heart attacks but I guess that doesn’t give the opportunity to destroy the economy as much.
I’ve wondered the same thing and have only found reports of lasting lung damage here and there. The number of recoveries is going up but slowly.

United States
Cases 434,791
Deaths 14,802
Recoveries 24,058
Models already included behavioral changes. For crying out load lockdowns have been in place for what? A month or so now.?
They just will not admit they assumptions about the virus used for these projections have been wrong.
You are right. You can’t prove a negative.
The public health bureaucrats have constructed a hero myth that will let them escape accountability for their EPIC FAIL.
Trump is playing along because it rebounds to his benefit politically.
The best information that I’ve found so far shows that only a small percentage of cases tested are positives (less than one-tenth in one state), so it appears that they’re really trying to trace all of the positives to contacts and test them. That tells us that no large part of the population is infected.
They simply don’t want to try to test the large part of the population that’s wanting certifications of immunity right now. As with flu and other coronaviruses, immunity would probably only last a short time.
7452 people die everyday in the US from other causes outside of CV. Hard to believe the deception being fed to the clueless.
