Tuesday, Fox News Channel’s Brit Hume weighed in on the actions taken by governments throughout the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and spare lives in the process.
Hume was critical of the medical data used to justify some of the decisions, which he said have had an impact on the American economy.
“[T]he models were the basis really for these decisions that have been made,” he explained during a segment with FNC’s Tucker Carlson. “These drastic restrictions that we have placed on ourselves as a country to combat the coronavirus and you know, we may not — we may or may not flatten the curve, but we’ve certainly flattened the economy.
And at least 10 million people based on the unemployment claims are out of work, and obviously, millions more either are or will be soon, and there are costs associated with that in terms of, you know, human suffering and anxiety and stress and all of which are really probably not the responsibility of the epidemiologist, but they are the responsibility of the public policymakers who have been relying on these expert doctors, these epidemiologists like Dr. Birxand Dr. Fauci who I think have done the best they can.”
“And because, you know, we weren’t able to test nationwide immediately, they were reliant on these models, these computer models and particularly the one that you cited from the University of Washington, which as you pointed out, has been way, way off on a number of accounts up to and including this most recent — its most recent projections,” Hume continued.

The data does not show how many people have CVC19. Presumably there are, and have been lots of people suffering with this disease in silence, in bedrooms across America. Most of them get well, and we never hear about them. What we do know is that about 3% of CV19 tested, diagnosed patients are dying with excellent medical acre, and about 12% of tested, diagnosed CV19 patients are dying with minimal medical care.
1. This says that advanced medical care is needed to combat this disease.
2. This says that removing masks, social distancing and stay-at-home rules, and spreading this disease to everyone, could overwhelm our medical infrastructure and kill up to 12% of the population.
Oh well, the end of May is just around the corner.

Or they could have looked at how many corpses were piling up in the months that this bug had to spread. Based on that there was no reason to panic like we have.
The difference, of course, is that one will bounce back up and the other will not.
I would love to see the models of where our “economy” would be if we had done nothing.
The answer is that there are no such models. Maybe because the people complaining the loudest don’t know anything.
My money’s still on President Trump. He reacted the quickest and saved lives. He also is a businessman who doesn’t need this Presidential gig, and cares about business.
We have an idea. The US survived the 2009 Swine Flu epidemic without going fetal.
Based on the hysteria of our media focused on bashing the President and the dire warnings of our health bureaucrats juxtaposed with the potential of mass death and overloaded hospitals versus crushing the economic engine he had rebuilt it is fair to say that Trump was faced with pain either way no matter what decisions he made.
The next two months will see a media narrative form going into the November election crafted to benefit the democrats. Trump has so far walked the tightrope, but the last President who faced a situation this dire was Bush with 9/11 and the media and public was generally unified behind the reaction. Our country is far more divided now than it was then with half prone to saying he did not do enough and the other half becoming more angry about the damage to the economy and the reckless spending this pandemic created.
If Trump can weave his way out of this, and I am not betting against him, it will be magical! His best attribute is that more people will have faith in him to rebuild the economy and on top of that, he has seemingly done a good job managing the unmanageable.
With that said, it is going to get very ugly and even more partisan in the next few months.

COVID-19 is not swine flu.
Actually, I have heard get your mouse finger ready to start clicking when this over because the markets are going go up, up, up, up and away. (Why yes Virginia, there is a quick recovery!) Be wary of the false start though because they tried that last pandemic. The market started rising after the last pandemic (shot up like a UFO when Trump got elected) and has done so after every one before that. Who cares what could have been and let’s get ready for can now be realized after this is over - beaucoup money to be made!
No, it’s nothing like a 3% death rate. Garbage in, garbage out. The number of deaths is not accurate. Only yesterday Birx said that anyone who has a positive corona test is counted as a corona death no matter what they died from. That is garbage.
And dividing into the number of infected people is only legitimate if you know that number. When the test was new and almost nobody was being tested, would you have said it had a 25% death rate?
As the number of people tested rapidly increases, the death rate will continue to drop. When we find out a fourth or a third of country has it. The death rate will eventually be shown to be somewhere far below 1% as we know the true number of people who have it and often do not even know it.
This is a political event that could have happened in ANY given year by seizing upon every single flu death, discussing it in the media nationwide, and insisting everyone say home until nobody has the flu. There is a reason it is happening in 2020... election year.

Economists are now talking about a slower “U” shaped recovery curve that will go well into next year.

What this says what you say this says? You are saying that 12% of diagnosed cases are dying and that 12% of the population will die. This made up crap is what people use to justify putting millions of people out of work. You should stop spreading it around. 12% is a preposterous estimate. Don't you think we would be stepping over dead bodies at the grocery store and walmart if 12% of the population were dying?
12000 dead so far in 3 months, out of a population of 350 million plus an unknown number of illegal immigrants, how in the hell are you ever going to get to 12% of the population? Some idiot got on here a month ago saying the death count was doubling every two days. Stated as a fact. There were 3000 dead 30 days ago. It took 30 days to double twice. Yet this idiot doesn't come back and say oh I said wrong stuff. No, we take the 2 day doubling and get scared and call the police when our neighbors go outside.
If you want to wear a mask, stay in your house, and not ever go to a movie or concert, that's fine I'm glad. In fact I hope that is what you do, and I hope you live a long and healthy life free from death.
