ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) The body of Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, daughter of former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, has been found four days after she and her son went missing after a canoe trip in the Chesapeake Bay.
After a search that spanned several days and involved aviation and underwater imaging sonar technology, authorities recovered McKeans body Monday about 5:30 p.m. in 25 feet of water and about 2 1/2 miles south of her mothers residence in Shady Side, Maryland, where the canoe was launched.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police will resume search operations Tuesday to continue searching for her son, Gideon McKean.

We have to stop canoe violence.
Elites lack common sense I have never seen ONE with a lick of common sense!! ALL have Ivy League educations but are complete idiots if it is NOT in some book somewhere!!!
As cold as the water was the life jackets would have made no difference at all. They would have only had minutes.
When the canoe capsized they should have swum under it, put their chest and arms over the thwarts between the gunwales to hang there in the water. Their bodies then would have been found with the canoe.
Surviving was not possible after their canoe overturned in three foot waves on a huge ocean bay of 64,299-square-miles this time of year.
Our beloved site of rational debate and commentary has been crowded with leftists and plants for a few years now. It used to be just us Constitutional lovers who could politely agree to disagree. Alinskyites have taken over.
The Kennedys have an issue with water.
JFK managed to get rammed by a destroyer while captaining a PT boat, which is like letting yourself get rammed by an F-150 while driving a Corvette on the runways at ATL.
Ted the Swimmer everyone here knows about, or should. Lookup ytedk.org at archive.org if you dont.
JFK Jr. got disoriented and flew his plane into the water, it is thought.
And now this.
No, the Kennedys and water dont get along.
They will find him when he floats up in a week or so. Given the current, probably down around Deal, Md. The Chesapeake Bay will kill you if you are careless.
I am surprised that everyone is so quick to consider this an accident.
I wouldn’t call trying to retrieve a ball from the water a “canoe trip.” The problem here was someone who was obviously unfamiliar with canoeing getting into a situation beyond her skills. She may have done a little flatwater paddling but going out into big water is something different. Inexperience kills. Again.
wasn’t there one killed by skiing on frozen water?
bttt
There you go, another one. One of RFKs kids. And wow, I didnt realize RFK had *11* children.
Way too many young kids without a father. RFKs line was probably the worst.
You don’t usually die in a canoe. The canoe takes you to the spot where you exit the canoe, then you drown if you can’t swim. You can’t swim if you bash your head on the canoe while you make an ungraceful exit.
[with waves more than three feet high]
Yikes. Canoe?
