How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2020?Here, you'll count everyone living and sleeping in your home most of the time, including young children, roommates, and friends and family members who are living with you, even temporarily.
Were there any additional people staying here on April 1, 2020, that you did not include in Question 1?
Mark all that apply: Children, related or unrelated, such as newborn babies, grandchildren, or foster children; relatives, such as adult children, cousins, or in-laws; nonrelatives, such as roommates or live-in babysitters, and people staying here temporarily.
Does anyone see how this is different from the first question? Whats the purpose of re-asking the previous question? Did they not believe you the first time?
Is this house, apartment, or mobile home ......Owned by you or someone in this household with a mortgage or loan? Include home equity loans. Is it owned by you or someone in this household free and clear (without a mortgage or loan)? Rented? Occupied without payment of rent? See more about answering this question ....
Why we ask this question: This helps us produce statistics about homeownership and renting. The rates of homeownership serve as one indicator of the nation's economy. They also help with administering housing programs, planning, and decision-making.
Im not buying this. It no ones damn business how I occupy the residence I live in. Its also not the governments business to give away my money to other people for housing.
What is your telephone number?
Why we ask this question: The Census Bureau asks for your phone number in case there are any questions about your census form. We will only contact you for official census business, if needed.
This question is just plain stupid. Who in their right mind is going to talk to someone, sight unseen, who calls them claiming to be with the Census and provide information to a stranger over the phone? Not I or anyone else I know.
Im not even going to delve in to the race questions, there are just too many reservations about that, including the purpose and reliability of answers.
the only really ‘valid’ question: How many?.................
Exactly.
But would you conceded that names are valid information?
I answered the questions and found them annoying. I think they could get a simple count without asking about who the kids are. Also I answered as if my college age kid wasn’t living there, and he isn’t, but who knows if he will get or answer a census form. Moreover, college kids are in such flux right now that it will be hard to pin down the actual household they are living in during Pandemic 2020.
Hard time to be a Census worker, soon going house to house when no one is answering doors. Certainly I’m not. Picked the worst possible time in a generation to try to count people.
There’s not an f’n thing on there that they don’t already know because they mug me every April 15. So they already know way more than they need to
When they asked for details on race, I said American.
“the only really valid question: How many?.................”
What if the house is. occupied. by 14 illegals?
Possibly, but I answered all of them, because if you don’t they will send around a questioner in person and I don’t want that.......................
Same.
My biggest gripe with the digital Census was that there were questions I couldn't skip. They pretty much mandated an answer to everything, which I found intrusive.
Ain’t nobody got time for dat.
These questions have been on the census since forever.
My race is “human” as a write in. FedGov is entitled to know how many people live in my home, but they are not entitled to much else. I include name and sex to help with future genealogy, as a personal choice. Pretty much the rest of my answers are truthful but not helpful. Running water in the home? Nope (none of the faucets are on at the moment, but I don’t explain, it’s just a ‘no’). Similar non-informative answers for everything else that is none of their business.
No reason to provide a phone number that I can see. Is one required to have a phone number?
Race questions are the ones that bug me. We should be beyond caring about that by now. I need to find a legal way to obfuscate this answer.
How many and their names I have no issue with. It’s a valuable part of the historical record.
Count the people. Doesn’t specify their citizenship.............. “counting the whole number of persons in each State... excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons...
It's really a free form sort of questionnaire...but a brain is needed to figure that out.
On the plus side, however -- like the Bible and humanity for untold millenia -- it only recognizes two genders/sexes...
Questioning if they really need the names and SSNs of people living in the house.? What do you think?
If that's too tough to answer...don't answer it.
Nothing is REQUIRED, you know.
I imagine that the statistical reliability on those answers are abysmally low.
NOTHING IS REQUIRED TO ANSWER.
DON'T ANSWER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO.
NOBODY CARES!
