I thought the Secretary’s letter about the episode explained it well and action taken appropriate.
He was relieved from command of the carrier. He is still in the Navy and still a Captain, although in quarantine after testing positive.
Modly is in a CYA mode. He’s gone; he just might not realize it. You just don’t call a Navy Captain “stupid” and expect there will be no consequences for yourself.
