“I think the CO should be sent to court martial”

They won’t CM him. They will invite the Captain to retire or they will sit him at a desk somewhere until 20 moving nonessential items around.

He violated Article 92 of the UCMJ.

Dereliction in the performance of duties:

That the accused had certain duties;

That the accused knew or reasonably should have known of the duties; and

That the accused was (willfully) (through neglect or culpable inefficiency) derelict in the performance of those duties.

They will let him save face until he retires, or chooses to resign, his decision.

Thanks for your input. I would think that most career naval, military personnel could see the fine line ASECNAV Modly is walking. Crozier’s behavior will be evaluated by his superiors and necessary action will be taken. But the last thing career people would want to see would be the wrong message sent from above discouraging frank reports from juniors.

And then as Defense Exhibit A, I submit

HilLIARy Roddamn Clinton’s e-mail server and 30,000 missing texts.

If She Ever gets her 30 years, Capt Crozier may be eligible for 1/30,000 X 30 years...

Give him 8 hours of KP in the galley and call it even

As a sci fi fan, I’d love to imagine that there was a look-ahead device.

Sometimes things written seem to actually take place in the future.

Once again uniformed Navy brass passed the buck to civilian leadership. Obvious CYA move in the Age of Trump. We’ve seen this enough times now with high profile cases to establish a trend. Very disappointing.

Unseemly. I read online somewhere that some of the crew lined the rails cheering him as he was escorted off the boat. Our Navy has really changed

Agree with you. It is important for the public to know that it is FAR more than the USS Roosevelt, a nuclear powered new version of an aircraft carrier.

The RADM down the passageway from the CO of the carrier, is the Commander the Carrier Strike group-—the carrier and the accompanying protective Strike Group ship’s with ship’s complement exceeding another 1k (the Air wing on board the carrier adds 2K to the ship’s basic complement of various specialty grades.

So, the Flagship is the Roosevelt, whose CO exposed the “readiness state” (making known publicly to ALL eyes-— like the chi-coms who shadow them around)— and thus put the entire Strike Group in greater danger than they already are on a Mission rotation. For example, while the Roosevelt was in the fixed location docked in Guam, the rest of the Group had to be sortied to protect it, just like they do when the carrier is underway-— however, in this case they have to patrol back and forth and around in fixed area-— making them vulnerable.

The captain thought saying “we’re not at war” would absolve all this Love Boat mentality (keep in mind-— women are serving on board— not all men). For that matter, other than his secure comm and other means, he could not know a developing scenario. Don’t think the chi-coms aren’t watching all this, and recording. Don’t think they didn’t “spritz” the sailors on shore leave in DaNang-—just incredible to stop there in context— so leaves questions to the uppers-— “was THAT OK?, Really?” Dry run for the aggressive chinee, whose bases they have created on Phillipine owned islands are armed to the teeth, and threaten the S.China Sea sea lanes...for all nations, and the US. This is not a game..... Crozier. As you have learned, even as you attempt to rise in the politics of general officers. Captain in the US Navy is a big rank, next up is RADM... etc. Not for him, pretty sure.

Are you going to ask if we “Know Who You Are” again?

I think you should. That was awesome.

Do it again.

Cozier is a look into what our future military is becoming, just look at what fellow navy seals did to their Chief officer Galleger!! Cozier was the Commanding officer of a NUCLEAR WAR SHIP he let all of our enemies know his ship was not combat ready what an absolute pansie!!

Just as importantly: none of Crozier’s Navy chain of command felt his conduct warranted removal. They all punted to civilian leadership. The rot runs wide and deep in our military.

More likely he will get a medal: The Croix de Never Trump. The silence from the navy brass on this issue is quite telling. I don’t expect this will harm his career at all.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head, I agree completely.

Spent 20+ years in the USN and we had it drilled into our brains ... “I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of ********* (fill in the blank) on board the USS *********”

We were NEVER allowed to let friends and family know where our ports of call were going to be (that gives out classified ships movement).

We were NEVER allowed to discuss the ship’s readiness with anyone not assigned to the ship.

We were NEVER allowed to talk to the news media, that is what a PAO is for.

We were taught from day one that going outside the Chain of Command was a violation of the UCMJ.

The Captain, in this case, violated every rule in the book and he knew better!

Oh, and just picking nits ... it is Anchors aweigh. ;-)

Thank you for the thoughts. The public is not supposed to know everything out there so they can function in a normal atmosphere. Our security system is designed to try to keep as much under cover from Charlie, as from our own, possible. And the publication of the threat of what could be called bio warfare which would limit the capacity of a vessel like this is about as irresponsible as a general officer could be. He blew it, big time.

Everything he said and pushed forward should have been crypto at a minimum. And it all should have had a classified currier whenever possible to limit the broadcasting snipes. But supplying the information in the public eye is completely out of line.

A security breach is any incident that results in unauthorized access of data, applications, services, networks and/or devices. This data was pertinent to the successful operation of the vessel and could lead to an attack on the US mission this vessel fullfils while putting the crew and the resource at risk.

Another bad part is that if it had been an enlisted under that rank of E-8, they would most likely have gotten time behind bars and a dis-honorable discharge as this borders on the edge of espionage. At what point can you call it purposeful rather than stupidity? I’ve seen members locked down for less.

So, Capt. Crozier will be in quarantine for the next 14 days or more, right?

Apparently no one told him loose lips sink ships.

Disregarding OPSEC is pretty good evidence that you do not have the welfare of your sailors as a top priority.

In other words, the CO committed acts of insubordination, conduct unbecoming, and he violated national security. His insubordination including lying to the public about his superiors who had already been working directly with him on the needs of the ship.

All of this supports the decision to relieve him of Commamd. I’d still like to hear the navy’s version of the back story as to why the ship was allowed to have a port call in Vietnam the previous month.
