In my humble opinion they should have never let anyone on board without first being tested negative for the Wuhan Virus.
Exactly right.. it defects the purpose. But then there is no way they could have kept it WuFlu free.
This should be the function of makeshift temp clinics set up in parking lots and stadiums. Not compromise the ship.

I am glad the ship has a method for isolation and testing of its own in place. If it can operate and insure no COVID present, then it will serve as intended.
I wouldn’t trust New York testing, and this way they don’t have to. But New York could test, too before bothering to send someone.
Test them in the ambulance with the new 5 minute test.
40/1100=0.03636= 3.6% of capacity
What happened to the ‘everyone in NYC is gonna die’ meme ?
PA has its own petty stalin, but I’m REALLY glad to not live in NY.
After all is said and done Cuomo will be applauded as defying Trump and saving NY from disaster. They need heros
This seems RIDICULOUS!! Why weren’t they sent to the Javitz FIRST?? I thought the ship was taking stroke and heart attack victims.....anything but Wuhan Flu!
So....
Now, we have an aircraft carrier AND a hospital ship out of commission while being disinfected.
NY hospitals want to take more profitable cases and shove the COVID-19 cases off on the Navy?
Just a guess on my part.
I’m sure the President isn’t happy he gave the ship to NY and that they abused the privilege. Clean it up and get it out to sea. Damn Cuomo!
The ship has a limited capacity:
Patient capacity:
Intensive care wards: 80 beds
Recovery wards: 20 beds
Intermediate care wards: 280 beds
Light care wards: 120 beds
Limited care wards: 500 beds
Total Patient Capacity: 1000 beds
Operating Rooms: 12
I have been unable to find the cost of the vessel at performance. But if they are only going to use it to fill 5% of its capacity, the cost is too much. Send it back to Maryland or to somewhere where it can be used effectively. Right now, it is wasting taxpayer money and lives saved somewhere else by docking at NY.

Well, the number of eligible patients have increased since last week. A few days ago, it was just 20 patients, now, it’s 40. So, that’s a 100% increase.
BINGO!!
“...now, its 40...”
Only because they are sending over people that were never meant to be there. The vessel was never there to treat C19 and are not set up for it. So, back they go. More cost, less productivity. And misuse by NY.

Boy, this thread was nearly a year old. Amazing that you would dig it up today !!
Yup. Was reading about Cuomo in the news related to sexual harassment. Then I just remembered around a year ago at this time, President Trump sent USN Comfort to help out NYC but we know that Cuomo would rather spite our beloved President than to save the lives of New Yorkers.
RE: but we know that Cuomo would rather spite our beloved President than to save the lives of New Yorkers.
The USN Comfort was NOT the only resource available for Cuomo.
Trump sent NY nearly 30,000 ventilators which a few months later, Cuomo had to donate to other states as he discovered they were not really needed.
Then there was the gigantic Jacob Javits Convention center, which with the help of Federal Money, was converted to a 2,500 bed Covid treatment facility. THAT TOO was nearly unused like the USN Comfort.
Then there was the Samaritan’s Purse field hospitals with hundreds of beds built in East Meadow of Manhattan’s Central Park in cooperation with Mount Sinai Health System to provide additional specialized care for victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.
RESULT: After a few weeks of treating hundreds of Covid patients for free, Mayor Bill De Blasio told Samaritan’s Purse to pack up and leave because gay activists didn’t want them there. The Franklin Graham led organization has a Biblical morality code that disallows employees from engaging in homosexual acts. Apparently this morality code is bigoted and the City will not allow such a religious organization to operate, even if they treat EVERYONE ( gays included ).
That’s New York for you...
