My girl’s dragged on for three weeks. I was surprised I didn’t get it as I’m the one who usually gets upper respiratory crud. She had a week worth of fever, malaise, etc. We were shocked when she tested negative for flu.
It so happens that I am in the designated-diers group, and many of my loved ones are also.
I’m aware of the political games being played, and I don’t disagree with you about them. Those playing that game need to be punished severely — just as soon as the immediate threat is laid to rest.
If you look back at my posts; you’ll see that I was amongst the first to raise red flags about the ever-increasing dangers arising from a potential economic collapse. Trump is right when he says that the cure could be worse than the disease — in fact, I think he’s greatly downplayed the dangers of a collapsed economy. If, for instance, the lights go out, and there’s no one to fix the grid, or if the required parts aren’t available — the results could be apocalyptic.
Trump’s asking for compliance for a few more weeks, then a reassessment. He’s chomping at the bit to reopen the economy & he has access to much, much better information than any of us on this forum. I’ll take my cues from Trump & the few local political leaders I trust. Meanwhile, don’t kill me. Don’t kill your gran.
The model assumes all severe corrective measures such as school lock downs and social distancing.
So when was the last flu season we locked down 30% of the economy?

i didn’t get anything in the lungs- i think my slight cough was due more to irritation due to slight sore throat than anything really- my fever- if you can call it that- only lasted for about 1 day off and on throughout the day- everything was really pretty mild- My relative however had the same stuff for longer- seemed like they got it, got over it, then relapsed- but theirs too was not really bad-
You seem to have confused the terms asymptomatic and mild. Basically anyone with the flu is thinking they might have COVID 19 and are getting tested. They estimate 20-50% might be asymptompatic. Since I live in Oregon we have seen about 1000 positive and over 13,000 negative, so no 10 tens of millions of American’s do not have the virus, it actually is probably no better than 5-10 million and alot more havoc can be caused if you lay off the gas. The question is what it’s always been from the beginning, how many people are we willing to sacrifice, but if you are ignorant to what the real cost is, then you cannot make an intelligent decision.

Same here, no panic anything. I find it very interesting to see how the true nature of a lot of people is coming out. Hopefully this will make them take a long look in the mirror. I have so many thoughts going in all different directions on this. From the scum that hoards crap, the pushing/shoving to get toilet paper- REALLY- to those acting like flipping idiots - where is the “common sense” - I guess a lot of people got slapped with the stupid stick. They all wig out over a cold virus but are totally okay with the thousands of abortions preformed. More people die from all of the various flu’s we have in a year. The economy doesn’t shut down but the MSM has deemed it necessary to destroy the economy. Anything to get Trump.
We had the same weird crud through here between Thanksgiving and mid-January. Dry cough, fever, chills, headache, sore throat..... all tested negative for flu, pneumonia, bronchitis and the dr’s just said it was a virus...… I think this has been here longer than anyone will admit but it wasn’t convenient until the MSM thought they could bring down the President.
Like I said, in a few weeks you are going to look foolish along with every other Chicken Little in this forum when the devastation incurred by this economic shut down far exceeds the severity of this disease.
The “if it saves just one life” crowd Could save far more lives by making everyone wear helmets 24x7 yet they don’t. Those fools just care about themselves and the hell with everybody else.
Just so you know, I too am an essential worker, I work corporate IT business systems for a major pharmaceutical company so my company is doing very well. However, I come from a blue-collar background and this incredibly stupid shut down is killing them and I’m not so much of an ass that I do not care about other people.
I understand where you are going, especially with abortions, but you can’t expect to them to think that way. The only way out of this is to be practical and deal with facts, I believe the facts show this is in fact way worse than the flu. We are over 10k deaths now and this is just getting started.. some are projecting that 50 million American’s have already gotten this, this is just flat out not showing up in the numbers. Oregon is up to 20k negative and only 1200 positive. Unless this virus has been here for 3 years already but then again that isn’t showing up the numbers, why the surges in the hospital’s in hot zones then? Don’t buy the panic and don’t buy the people this is no big deal. Get ready to live different, we can go to the movies with the theatres half full and everyone in masks, that’s the new normal until a proven treatment or a vaccine is found.

However you are still confusing reality with chicken little. I never sat here and said we need to be in complete lockdown, you however are clearly not seeing the numbers for what they are and you are downplaying the virus and it’s role. That’s your choice, and you have no more certainty about the outcome than I do, but numbers don’t lie and I’m good with numbers.
Oregon is now up to 20k negative tests and only 1200 positive, the numbers don’t lie, the virus has not spread no where near as close as you think. NY’s situation doesn’t lie either, and if people were going about their regular business a lot more people would be dead because hospitals would have all their normal arrivals as well as alot more Covid 19.
The truth will not be known until there is mass testing of a random sample of Americans. When they do they will find the most people have had it and have been mostly asymptomatic or thought they had a cold.
You and all your other doom and gloom fellow travelers will look like a pack of fools. America has been panicked into running off the buffalo jump.
