The Navy captain, who was removed from his command of a coronavirus-stricken aircraft carrier, has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Two Naval Academy classmates of Capt. Brett Crozier confirmed the diagnosis to the New York Times. Crozier started showing symptoms before his ouster on Thursday, the classmates said. Its unclear when he was tested for the virus, and hes being quarantined at Naval Base Guam.

No he leaked a memo to the press. THATS why he was fired
What state is he from? Will he be allowed to take lifesaving medicine or croak like half these New Yorkers from neglect of care and idiocy of their governor.
certainly not getting any argument from me on that.
Hell even my wife says the same thing, and she is only in her 40’s
I’m not surprised he tested positive. The lack of discipline on that ship was evident during his send off where hundreds of simpatico sailors were on the hanger deck chanting his name, while not even attempting to distance themselves from one another.
It was like a pep rally. Where was the leadership? XO? S3? Anyone... Bueller???
I see praise for this man all over FR, but this was the tone on the TR - total lack of discipline on one of our most powerful warships. On display for ALL TO SEE.
Guam could tip over...
Could be worse, could be raining.
Crozier took the Teddy Roosevelt into port in Vietnam during an outbreak of the Corona virus and granted shore leave to the crew. He is the jerk who created the CoVid-19 problem on the Teddy Roosevelt. Then he wanted to play the “hero” by writing and releasing a letter to the press about the crisis.
Crozier is seeking publicity for a job in the private sector. He graduated from the USNA in 1992. If he does not make Rear Admiral by 2020, he will have to retire. He missed making the current promotion list. He knows he is unlikely to make either of the next two promotion lists. So if he cannot become a rear admiral, he decided to become simply a Rear.
We dont. This is the only type of story about the military you will see. Its nothing but a slam and cant be used for anything except a slam.
All the cruise ships are mainly bitching and getting press because they have been told they can not tie up and need to safely wait out the quarantine period at sea. I was held from tieing up, delayed, or re routed more times than I can count over 23 years in service and 7 of those at sea.
Aircraft carriers have fully staffed trauma centers open 24/7. I am sure their medical care is at least up to single payer standards.
Got his resume out just in time. Some defense contractor will hire the piece of sh!t.
If you have direct information regarding the feelings the crew has for this asshole lets see it. the only indication anyone is getting os what the reporters are telling you to believe.
Just keep in mind, Vietnam has a VERY low instance of Coronavirus.
Very low.
National security, that’s why. He had ways to act within the rules and chose to break them because he was impatient. He didn’t understand his place in the chain of command.
“No he leaked a memo to the press. THATS why he was fired”
The habit around here of just making stuff up because it pleases one really should end.
Vietnam may have a low incidence of Coronavirus. But when it’s publicized that a US aircraft carrier is going to be docking in Vietnam, it’s not a stretch to suspect an enemy would intentionally send a human carrier to infect persons from that US aircraft carrier. And then there is the by chance infection that could have come from a sweet spouse who made his/her way over to Vietnam to spend some special time with a spouse on liberty. Even submarine officer wives do this.
Yes. There is manifest breakdown in good order and discipline.
He very well was a regular guy but he needed to take the measures he was trained with in dealing with a bio problem plus only communicated in the chain of command. If he did all that he would have protected his crew better and not have been relieved of his command.
= = =
But the crew may have never known how he protected them.
And thus no cheering.
He sent a classified message of what was going on on unclassified email and he had the technology and training to deal with this. His removal was mandatory.
Sorry; I just can’t seem to find any sympathy for pussies.
ANY COMMANDER who is a “regular guy” with his crew is UNFIT for command.
Command ranks can and should be respected by subordinate ranks, but be advised; someday under certain circumstances your commander could and should order you into a situation that will require you giving your life for the mission.
You are expected to salute and execute that command, not argue with your FRIEND.
There is a reason all of us maggots have to salute first and hold it until returned.
You want to be some subordinates buddy go join the YMCA or the PTA.
As an officer in charege in my youth.....Blah Blah Blah ESAD
